After two U.S. hostages were murdered at the hands of the militants who kidnapped them have promised to release one of Two High-Profile Women Prisoners. Officials deny the decision is because of the militants demands.

Iraq Promises to Release Woman Prisoner

BAGHDAD, Iraq Sept. 22, 2004 � Iraq promised Wednesday to release one of two high-profile women prisoners, but officials denied the decision was linked to demands by militants who purportedly killed two American hostages and threatened to execute a Briton with them unless all female Iraqi prisoners are let go.
Later Wednesday, authorities said a corpse was found with its decapitated head in a black plastic bag western Baghdad. The identity was not immediately known, but its discovery came a day after the militants claimed in a Web posting to have killed the second kidnapped American, Jack Hensley.

The militants threaten to kill Kenneth Bigley if their demands of all Iraqi women are not released from custody. Today would have been Jack Hensley's 49th birthday.

Well at this moment in time this story keeps changing,

The US are saying there not going to be released,

Then the Iraqi government are saying YES they are going to release them
The US comes back to say the release is not going to happen,

Now Iraqi judges are saying that they will release 3 women prisoners???

They cannot negotiate with terrorists!

I feel for this man, and for the two U.S. hostages who were killed, however, they knew the dangers of being there. I can't imagine what they went through with these barbarians, but we cannot give in to the terrorists. It will only get worse if we cater to their demands.

What next, they will kidnap more people and kill them till we release Sadam? How far will it go?

States that there will be no negotiation with the terrorists.

There was some confusion, however, as the Iraqi government said it might free -- but not immediately -- one of two weapons scientists who Washington says are the only women in detention. And it was unclear whether Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's demand that all women prisoners be released referred to this pair at all.

Officials in the Iraqi Justice Ministry said earlier on Wednesday that one of the two women the United States says it holds in custody in Iraq, Rihab Taha, would be freed. They said the move was unrelated to the demands of Zarqawi's group.

But the U.S. embassy said later that the two women, Taha and Huda Ammash, dubbed "Dr Germ" and "Mrs Anthrax" by U.S. forces, would not be released soon: "The two women are in legal and physical custody of the multinational forces in Iraq and neither will be released imminently," a spokesman said.

Kassim Daoud, national security adviser in the Iraqi government, said Taha was one of three detainees who may be given conditional release, but that the three would not be freed for some days.

"Iraqi judges decided to release them because they didn't have any evidence. The judges decided on a conditional release. It will not happen today, tomorrow or the day after tomorrow," he told a news conference.

if these women are released. They will be killed either the civilian population ( the Kurds) or by Zarqawi and his group. All this Blather about calling for thier release was not what it appeared to be.

If they release those women to save the Brit, I will be so mad. Our government would allow american's to be killed in this barbaric fashion, but the will cater to the demands of terrorists for a foreigner?

I feel for this man, and I hope they don't kill him, however the American men suffered the fate because we didn't give in, I don't think the Brit should be allotted special treatment.

If the iraqi goverment bows to the demand s and release's dr germ as she is known, then guess what next time they take a hostage they will demand something esle.

You cannot ever negioate with these terriost's it would set a worrying trend

2? Are you kidding? Lets go back to just Nick Berg and start the count. And now how many before that?

They should implant these people with GPS technology before they start working in Iraq and then when the terrorist start with the kidnapping they will have a nice surprise following their demands.

Why hasn't anyone asked this question....???

Why WOULD she be released then? If not catering to the demands (which would be even sillier after the fact...), then what are the ACTUAL reasons for the release? You can't simply say it ISN'T due to the demands, and then give NO other reason...... Sheer madness....

I know there were MANY unnecessary killings by the hands of the militants I was just stating that the release of these women were coming into question b/c of the recent beheadings. NO disrespect to the families or other victims prior to this current situation. I apologize if I seem insensitive.

The question should be raised, what makes these women so important to the terrorist? They, the terrorist, have already killed two civilans and are threatining a third.
Could it be that the terrorists need these two scientist to aid them in developing a biological weapon which will be used against coalition?

this is ridiculous..

the only reason the American Government has decided not to relase Dr Germ is because the 2 Americans have already died...

They don't care if the remaining person is not American, infact this makes it worse, because if the government are seen to release Dr Germ and the Brit is released, the US citizens are gonna go nuts because the other 2 American hostages may have been saved...

I think this is bureaucracy at its worst...

Why shouldn't they realse two high profile women for a Brits life. So what if two women get out. I bet if it was one of your family you would let them go without a second thought. Maybe America would do it differant but we are not America!

Would it not make sense to allow these women to move freely amongst the terrorist. Think about it this way. We could actually stop looking for them because these women will lead us to or even draw the terrorist out to them. We need to know where they are so they can be dealt with, we need to know how is friend or foe. I am an American and I do feel that instead of letting these people just pop up out of the blue and take who they want and execute them it would actually start to make sense if we had a tool to use to draw them out or bring us to them. If this makes any sense?

Just my thoughts

Releasing the she-devil would be a very poor judgement. By releasing a known war criminal all you are doing is showing the other animals that all they need to do is kidnap an American or Brit and you get what you want.

So go ahead, show them that their tactics have been successful. I think that's called encouragement isn't it?

Mark my words, if that witch gets released the kidnapping of Americans and British will multiply tenfold. Al-Zarkawi and his cohorts will realize they hit paydirt and will do it again and again each time with the release of a different prisoner as the condition. Talk about a slippery slope.
