Very relaxing, and beautiful photos. Nature never ceases to amaze me, these are the things I live for. Not money, sex, or getting my name out there.

But admiring the beauty and creation of what's around us.

There is a saying on ATS, 'make every post you write count'. This is is a really mean thing for you to write. There is enough horror in this world that I always enjoy to see the beauty that nature brings us. That is why I read these threads.

To the OP, this has made my morning, thank you! I have never seen the Moon next to a rainbow, but from now on I shall keep an eye out for it. And you explained it perfectly, the photo's are amazing, thank you!

Yes, I created the first photo to ilustrate the impossibility for a crescent moon to be close to a rainbow.
The two last photos are legit and show the possible configuration, i-e a gibbous moon (or full moon) close to a rainbow.

This whole post shows how skimming through an post can make a great and interesting thread into trollbait.

How do these kneejerk reply posts happen? Please take a minute to read a post before you decide that you are so important that you MUST reply.

Thanks to the OP for some great geometry facts.

Show me a rainbow (not photoshopped) at night and i'll be impressed.

Here you go:

It's actually called a "moonbow", but it's no different to a rainbow apart from the fact that the sunlight has traveled via the moon instead of straight from the sun.

You are right it is actually called a moon bow, however they are rare but instead of the light coming form the sun in your normal "rainbow', a moonbow is formed from the light reflected off the moon.
