Hey everyone. First, thanks for all the messages and well wishes in U2U and on my profile. That was very nice to see when I logged on this afternoon.

As of tomorrow morning I will be a graduate of Basic Combat Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. Thursday I will be on a plane to Ft. Eustis, VA to learn how to be a UH-60 Blackhawk mechanic/Crew Chief and it will be another 14 weeks of training before I return home to my wife. I have spent the last 2.5 months learning basic soldiering skills and combat tactics at the home of the United States Infantry.

It has been an awesome and life changing experience in ways I never thought possible. I have no complaints. It has helped me grow in ways I can't even begin to describe. My next thread for ATS will focus on what US Army Basic Combat Training entails. I will cover training, yes, but what I will cover the most is how it changed me and why. I think that it will add a very important and necessary perspective for members of ATS as the military is a constant topic of discussion here.

Again, thanks to every one who sent their well wishes while I was away at BCT...It's good to be back, even if my access will be limited over the next few months, I'll try to contribute as much as possible.

I missed ATS.

Continue to Deny Ignorance folks.

Seriously, I thought this site was about denying ignorance. :shk:

Anyone who still thinks the military still serves the country needs a wake up call. Our soldiers are used and abused by the corporations (or the CIA) to protect their profits (or, in the case of the CIA, their drugs) worldwide. They have nothing to do with serving the country of the people of the USA anymore. If they were serving the people of the US, they would be placed on our borders to keep out illegals, terrorists and violent drug gangs. Or better yet, arresting all those criminals on Capitol Hill.

I understand that many people feel they need to join the military in order to pay for college or to learn trade skills for the real world. Unfortunately, it seems the US government can't even keep that promise to our vets.

Glad to see you are using the military to learn some skills you can use out in the real world. From the way things are going, it doesn't look like you'll be able to count on them if you want to go to college.

ETA: welcome back.

Can't wait to see you around the boards again.

Thanks GEL. I've missed you guys. Especially the detractors. The Army is so far one of the best choices I've ever made in my life. If people think we don't love this country and do our jobs for the people, then you don't know the military.

Politicians aren't the military. You got a problem with the policy, change it.

Thank you very much for stepping up to the plate so to speak...

I dunno if you received my message as I'm sure you have gotten a few.
I am currently following in your footsteps, probably a few years older, but the same path nonetheless.

Hit me up on u2u when you get a chance.

Didn't see this when it was posted. Welcome back, bud! Hope your life in the military is a good one. It's good to know one of the good guys is looking out for us.
