Robert was shot to death by a young Jerusalem-born Jordanian named Sirhan Bishara Sirhan. Robert was assasinated by this Muslim terrorist on June 5, 1968 which is the annivarsary of the outbreak of the Six Day War between the Israelis and the Arabs. According to a report made by a special counsel to the L.A. County district attorney's office, Sirhan shot Kennedy for his support of Israel and had been planning the assasination for months. In an outburst during his trial, Sirhan confessed, "I killed Robert Kennedy willfully, premeditatedly, and with twenty years of malice and forethought!" Twenty years dates back to Israels declararation of nationhood in 1948.
