Done a search and couldnt find this update.
RT "Only days after clearing Congress, US President Barack Obama signed his name to H.R. 347 on Thursday, officially making it a federal offense to cause a disturbance at certain political events — essentially criminalizing protest in the States."
rt.com...
RT."And before you forget, the president can now detain you for getting too close to his front yard, order your assassination if the country considers you a threat and lock you away for life with no charge if you’re alleged to be a terrorist. You, on the other hand, can’t yell obscenities at Newt Gingrich without risking arrest.

This is just more madness IMO.The wording opens the doors to abuse of this law. Who will know if the SS are around when voicing concerns in a public place. TPTB could "claim" the SS are in the vicinity of a peaceful protest and you would be none the wiser. IMO this bill will be abused, it aligns itself to the pattern we are all seeing and fearing.
Goodbye to peaceful protest in the USA ? What do you think ?

Indeed , but this should have happened forty years ago when Kennedy was executed by TPTB. Why does humanity always wait until its at the edge of a cliff before acting? America is no more. What's left is an illusion. It's going to get ugly though, because they are ready for this fight and have been preparing for it for a long time. They are expecting the American people to roll over, and the majority will, but those who don't will be the only hope. I just pray it's not to late to reverse all the evil that has been done.

The law should never have been passed but at least we wont have to hear annoying OWS people with the lame speeches interrupt rallys.

Can't wait to see this law challenged via the judicial system. Kinda makes me want to hurl obscenities at a rally just so we can go to court...

Statements like this are exactly how these Bills are eased in. Good job letting the propaganda suck you in.

I personally would rather be slightly annoyed or inconvenienced occasionally than have what is essentially a law to stop the protest of our concerns. Concerns that IMO are justified and necessary to promote change. The only medium available to us is protest, as we know voting and the democratic mechanism in general is ineffectual.
I dont think this will stop peaceful protest but it will make more of us criminals. I can see this new law starting to fill up those "FEMA" detention centres and new prisons very quickly.

This is what the ACLU had to say:

It's important to note — contrary to some reports — that H.R. 347 doesn't create any new crimes, or directly apply to the Occupy protests. The bill slightly rewrites a short trespass law, originally passed in 1971 and amended a couple of times since, that covers areas subject to heightened Secret Service security measures.

These restricted areas include locations where individuals under Secret Service protection are temporarily located, and certain large special events like a presidential inauguration. They can also include large public events like the Super Bowl and the presidential nominating conventions (troublingly, the Department of Homeland Security has significant discretion in designating what qualifies as one of these special events).

The original statute, unchanged by H.R. 347,made certain conduct with respect to these restricted areas a crime, including simple trespass, actions in or near the restricted area that would "disrupt the orderly conduct of Government," and blocking the entrance or exit to the restricted area.

I find a little research goes a long way towards helping to avoid RT induced panic.

You know what? I figure it doesn't matter any more.

The existing laws are already enough to do us in.

Just look at the patriot act. Has ANYONE even read the whole thing? Even the people who signed it? Who knows whats buried in that thing.

I think they'd rather use it as toilet paper so it still has some purpose.

I would not dismiss OWS too quickly. I am sure TPTB had their tax-paid shills in the mix causing a majority of the ruckus, just like the lot ya see on ATS. I am glad big O signed it. Peaceful protesting has not been an option since January, time to take off the satin gloves and throw some knuckles. The majority sat by too long, denying what was going on around them. I had hoped there would be Resolution without a Revolution but the days of hoping and wishing are gone. Nothing to do now but surrender or fight, and the decision needs to be swift, behind the curtain TPTB add the finishing touches to their One World plan. 2012 IS the year TPTB reveal the plan, and despite what They say, there way is not for your benefit.

Had already done some research and am aware of this wording, and in the end its just words. Any mediocre lawyer could/would interpret this to "their" advantage. IMO it just widens the the TPTB's "umbrella" of who is now deemed to be a criminal. Its not scare-mongering/panic inducing, its reality. I think we can all use our imaginations based on our awareness to see that it will be used/abused sooner or later, and never for the good of the people.

I would post a protest to the law making protesting illegal,

but my understanding is that protest is illegal.

So, I protest not.

Just found this tonight.
Having trouble posting the link.

youtu.be...

The judge expands on what this Bill involves.

Just to add.
This is another Bill that seems to have slipped past the awareness of the American people.
Their freedom is being taken away and without so much of a fight.

Some of the people who singed it admitted to not reading it before signing it, because its like a thousand pages.

So many people get so caught up in laws being passed, I would worry more about what the secret services do within the states without even bothering wether they are operating within a legal framework or not.MK Ultra began in the 70s and the Nazi scientists shipped over stateside werent all engineers.
