I hadn't known about Topsy.com until I decided to google my name. This website has a profile on me that consists of some of my tweets from my twitter account (including photos) and makes them show up as a result when I google my name. I'm thinking they must've collected copies of the tweets and pics before I turned on the "Protected" feature which makes it so only people you approve can see them. How do I stop this?

E-mail the webmaster and find out. Tell them how you discovered this, and that you do not want that information available. See what kind of a response you get, then threaten to take legal action.

I love the fact that when I google my name, I don't show up at all. Even my pseudonyms don't rate very highly.

Topsy does provide information on how to remove your information.. try the FAQ

topsylabs.com...

They'll remove things by request, but they suggest that you make your profiles private or it will just find it's way back into the engine.

Thank you! Doing it now as we speak. Yea I realized I didn't have everything as private as it could be until they had already indexes some of my tweets

My personal OPSEC is pretty strong, name doesn't show up anywhere. Mainly because of the fact that I refuse to participate in any social networking and anywhere that requires my personal info for an account, hell, this is the only forum I belong to that required me to register and even now I use a throw away e-mail account for it.

I'm a little pissed though, I started getting spam in my main e-mail account for the first time since I created it 5 years ago. Serves me right for buying Soviet surplus equipment from the Ukraine. I'm sure that Viagra you're trying to sell me from Romania is top of the line, now please leave me alone.
