KONY 2012: Invisible Children Respond To Scam Accusations

www.sabotagetimes.com

A story told by Jason Russell: The photo of Bobby, Laren and I with the guns was taken in an LRA camp in DRC during the 2008 Juba Peace Talks. We were there to see Joseph Kony come to the table to sign the Final Peace Agreement. The Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) was surrounding our camp for protection since Sudan was mediating the peace talks. We wanted to talk to them and film them and get their perspective. And because Bobby, Laren and I are friends and had been doing this for 5 years, we thought it would be funny to bring back to our friends and family a joke photo. You know, “H

The Invisible Children charity are apparently spreading their message across magazine sites and blogs etc trying to redeem themselves.

It all seems very fishy to me though. Especially the old "I HATE GUNS" part. If you read it in full they do have some valid points but the fact the Ugandan army is so corrupt in itself makes me wonder what the real motives are.

No matter what it is though, the thing Kony is doing is beyond belief. Hopefully someone will catch him.

Once upon a time their existed a world where people could say "Let's unite and save children because this sick #er likes to kidnap and abuse them" and people wouldn't dissect their motives....

I hate Kony, you hate Kony? We all hate Kony, then come onnnnnnnn...

Well if the motives they use mean more money is given to them than what is needed to help the kids I think we definitely can dissect them.

The only time "WE" gain the right to dissect their motives, is if "WE" come out of pocket, and then want to follow our own money.. As it stands "WE" are just being kind of annoying in that "WE" technically aren't even involved beyond having seen the video..

Hey ... there is this horrible monster here in Iowa preying on little kids. Send me $20 to help me try to catch him and be sure to tell your friends.

And guess what, if I DON'T send you $20, THAT'S IT..... DONE....

Isn't that what we do now? Pay tax money for the "defense fund" when we are an offensive world power? And then the politicians start their own companies to fund with that same money like Halliburton?

hmmmm

fair enough ... good point.

I think we here at ATS like to dissect things like this because it smells fishy. There is an odd situation going on in Uganda right now and it appears the US wants in. We are just trying to figure out why.

I also find strange how this has exploded so quickly.

I been reading on here since about 2006, and been active since 2010, and I'll be honest, I think we make things fishy, and we dissect things because the truly suspicious things have already been dug through, and so now we just have to investigate everything..

Well it was posted on ATS for example.... and George Clooney and other celebrities posted the video when it was posted. It's nothing fishy about a video going viral....

A 700lb man posted a video pleading for weight loss help and it had 200k views in like a day and a half.. there is nothing fishy about virility..

I have been around here for a while as well and one thing I would say I have learned since coming here is the importance of questioning everything. Surely the majority of the conversations here end up going nowhere but it is the practice of looking at everything and coming up with a few diamonds in the rough that keeps me coming back. This Kony 2012 issue is an interesting one to me when looking back at the 100 people Obama sent over to look into this. Dig a little further back and oil reserves were found in Uganda. Who knows? But if we dont investigate this stuff as best as we can one thing is certain, we wont know.

I respect your viewpoint, I really do.

I just feel like this is more a game of tug of war between "help the kids" and "they're using the kids to insert troops"....

Just finished watching the 30min video and i have to say im not convinced. The video didnt really go into any detail neither about Kony, his background, his war, his purpose nor any specific details about how he gets these kids, how he trains em, what happens to the majority etc. Just seems like total BS.

2 things,

1. if the dude is hard to find, what makes you think people know his life story?

2. if you were trying to bring peoples attention to the dude, would you spend 1:15 telling his life story, or keep it short and sweet, with everything including the "action plan" in 30 mins?

I think you're right. It is a #ty situation but like a crazed gunman that grabs a woman or child for cover, these ugly situations present itself. The monsters of this world dont care who they take advantage of. The right thing to do is to evaluate it carefully. Lets all pool our money and spend 10K on a hitman to go in and take care of the job instead of giving this 2 out of 4-star non-profit thousands of dollars while they make a movie and travel around promoting it.

I appreciate their response to the criticisms that have been brought to attention, however I am far from satisfied

If you know law of attraction, you will understand that a pro-peace rally is much more effective than an anti-war rally
This movement still appears to be primarily driven off of hate, hate of Kony.

From what I've researched Kony's army now only has anywhere from 500-3000 members, and they have been hiding since 2006 when they were listed by the ICC. Apparently they don't pose an imminant threat to anyone at the moment, and especially now that the mass population are aware of him

The movement should dilute their attention away from Kony's crime. Why? Because if they are going to call him out for his crimes, it's only fair to call out the VERY SAME people IC is saying will help us for their crimes as well (look at the picture below)! The movement should seek a more positivistic approach to helping people in the region develop their lives and standard of living

You know who the criminals are:

-As of yet, no one has addressed the censorship of criticism of this organization

-32% still isn't ideal, it is suspicoius IMO

-They failed to provide a viable answer to their absence of cooperation with BBB

-Although they claim they don't support the crimes of the Ugandan military & Sudanese army, they are still supporting the organization and still indirectly supporting the crimes

I know I am only pointing out the negative here,
Overall they are doing great things but I do feel somewhat insulted to be presented with a documentary that is so hardly leaned on persuasion through emotion, and the absence of some important information

understood. Like I said, I haven't and won't buy any merchandise, but I can still help their cause without forking over more money to them...

Their goal is to bring awareness that this dude Kony exists, and I don't have to buy a kit, or a shirt, to do that. Social media is a hell of a force..

i personally believe it's because their stategy was smart. i mean it's not like some person came into my house and made me watch it. my friend said hey check out this video and i did. they got celebs to endorse it via facebook or twitter.
i think it's actually refreshing seeing so many people care about something like this. somewhat brings back my faith in humanity.

I for one have been trying to research this Kony 2012. Last night my high schooler mentioned we should join the Kony 2012. It is cool and there are posters that he wants. I am highly concerned because this has come out of no where. As a parent I want the bottom line on this. I know there are bad people out there, always has been and always will be. Maybe a conspiracy site is not the proper place to look for answers but I appreciate the opposing views.
