So, I'm glad I read about Kony and watched the video from here at ATS last night, because ALL of my seventh graders came in today talking about Kony 2012. Many had even made their own Kony 2012 bracelets and had written Kony 2012 on themselves with sharpies.

OP, I laughed. The skeptic in me thinks, yep, this is the way it is. Kony is a bad guy though, I do agree. If he's still out there then he needs to be stopped. However, should the US be the ones here? This is where my red flags start going up.

Think about this. The video makes a bold claim. They initially went to Washington and were ignored. They got a lot of support, came back, and suddenly 'stuff' got done. That's where I call BS. Our government MUST see a benefit to itself to get involved in any capacity, because that's just the way it rolls. I know for a fact, because I'm a prolific letter writer to various people in the government over various issues that also have a lot of support and nada happens. I usually get form letters back thanking me for my concern, but then regretfully going on to tell me why the status quo will continue to be upheld. The whitehouse.gov site is also infamous for letting Americans feel they are having a say with petitions that get addressed when there are x many signatures, only to then 'address' the petitioned issue with the reason why they won't do anything about it.

See, even Israel is having a fight with the US to get its unilateral way, and they have an extremely powerful PAC infiltrating and influencing our government. Bottom line: The only reason the US will ever be involved isn't because it is the right thing to do. It will only get involved if there is a specific benefit to the US.

This definitely smells. Apparently Kony is not in that area anymore and is thought to have maybe 100 men that are impossible to find. The 100 Advisers were not sent there for Kony to begin with.

I think the charity is legit but they are being used for some reason. We will see why shortly. It will somehow be used for the Obama Campaign I'm sure.

Contacting Congress is pointless as they know more than we do already, so the whole business of the posters and such is for something else.

There is nothing we can do about a 100 renegades traveling between multiple countries with nobody knowing who is who. There is literally no way that US involvement would help.

Funny as hell, but has some truth in it. Africa is very rich in resources and the people in those countries are so divided and split that they don't know who to trust anymore.

If they wanted to find him they would of found him by now.

As hard as it is to watch, what with all the climactic music, I wonder if the majority here are failing to pick up the real hidden message. Cause to me, this is our call for our revolution. At the beginning he says to listen carefully, then at the end as he describes the life pyramid, he states its time to turn it upside down and change the world forever. In other words, april 20th is time for a proper overhaul of the system, one that we have all be craving for sometime..

Then again maybe im picking it up wrong. After briefly refreshing the youtube page and watching the comments and views rise crazily, it would be nice if a lot more began to see it as i do, then it can begin..

Nobody is defending Kony and it is not a prerequisite to defend Kony in order to question the Campaign.

Hasn't the campaign completed it's main objective (making Kony famous)? Should we not now focus on bringing attention to number two on the list or some of the bigger challenges and problems facing Africa?

The black guy behind the dude in the tan shirt looks like the black guy from the movie Predator.

Do you really think if the government wanted to establish military bases in Africa, that they'd really care what the public thought? The public has largely been against all the wars for the past couple decades, didn't stop them then. But for some mysterious reason, now they need the support of the population.

Who knows, maybe it is supporting a government agenda, but the past doesn't really support that. Seems a bit of a stretch in any case.
