Yours is the same if your standard for the measurement of degree of egocentrism is perfect obedience to YHWH.
Pthena is merely pointing out what the legal demands are concerning the duty to be carried out against those who suggest looking to any other god than YHWH, or to anyone who even listens to such suggestions, which is they are all to be killed and the very city they lived in to be utterly destroyed, never to be rebuilt.
I would rather suggest instead of killing everyone in the world, that we reject this person in the Old Testament that makes such demands, and accept the Christian God who is not like that.

I'm denouncing his efforts to switch gods until he finds one that suits him. I commend his efforts of exploring the ancient theistic world for a better understanding, I just want to warn him what switching sides entails. JM, you'll probably appreciate these two reads. They're really succinct and clear. Maybe you'll get a better idea of where I'm coming from, we don't always see eye to eye.
