Jewish Commandments To Commit Genocide On The Amelekites..

I was christened Catholic but I never really got into it. Lately I have been considering worshipping Dagon the Assyro-Babylonian fertility god. Maybe the Philistines were right. So I have been reading about the Philistines. I read some stuff about the Canaanites and the Amorites (Amelek).

I was surprised to read that three of the commandments of the 613 mitzvot that are followed by orthodox jews refer to the Amelek and command the jew to exterminate the Amelek.

So David waged a sacred war of extermination against the Amelekites and it seems that he got the job done.

So they took the Amelek King Agag prisoner and commited genocide on his people before killing him. Then they later finished off the remaining Amelek that had escaped. I know that 'genocide' has been attempted many times throughout history but I wonder if the genocide commited by the jews on the Amelek is the first on record. Was there genocide before the jewish genocide? Did jews invent genocide?

But it seems that to some jews the definition of an Amelek is somewhat blurred. The Armenians have been considered to be Amelekites by some jewish authorities.

I like reading about the old Sumerian gods. I was thinking about worshipping Enki 'the lord of semen'. He seems pretty cool too. These gods pre-date any jewish or catholic fairytales and the modern religions seem to all come back to Sumeria.

I think there is truth in the old gods. None in the new.

Seems to be a convenient label to put on anyone they don't like, though it should be clear, as you pointed out, that they were all killed off by David, that being the very reason for David ever becoming king in the first place.

We see the same sort of thing today with people talking about the "blood-line of Cain", though theoretically, that was the rationale for the flood, to get rid of them.

The OT was man's view on God. I believe that God was almost "sanctifying" the Jews in the midst of pagan worshipers, which i think roots to worshiping fallen angels and their offsprings, making them "holy" or set apart, so that Jesus Christ can be born of the Jews and spread God's promise to the Jews to the world.

The Old Testament is the book of the law, the law teaches that for sin destruction follows. Even today sin will be met with destruction. The law MUST be satisfied. Now though through Jesus we have a received grace and Jesus has repaid our debt for sin.
The law still exists and destruction for sin will come about, and yes God is Terrible, God is a God of destruction. Moan all you like. its not our job to sell God to you.

If you read the account of the flood it was to destroy the giants more or less . Noah and his family were pure in their bloodline back to Adam and Eve thru Seth . Cain had his own bloodline because Adam did not sire him and his descendants did survive the flood. Noah was told to take two of all flesh , man is flesh , so two of all the races were taken aboard the ark. This is why the ark story is in every culture.

The nephilim we not taken aboard because the were soulless and were why God wanted the earth destroyed , the same with the angels that left their estate.

The Amelekites that the OP so admires were breeding with the second influx of angels . What's interesting about when the Hebrews went in to claim their land and kill all the people and giants living their is they never finished the job. They left a remnant in three areas which are known as today Giza , the West Bank and Jerusalem . God told them if they didn't finish the job they would be cursed for it , God always keeps His word
