For $40 bucks which is a good deal, I got a compaq desktop computer with windows 95, the monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse and all the wires. It's a starter computer. That she can play with and fiddle with.

She wants to take it back. Good luck with that. The guy already sold it to me. lol

She's like "I got a bad feeling about this computer". "Why? Because it doesn't hook up to the internet?"

That's pretty old and not very secure. Stop being cheap and buy a half decent computer. Save! lol.

It's secure. She's not on the internet. She's going to have to be patient. The other computer almost fried up, and this was a last minute, got to go get one right now computer.

You don't say how old your kid is, but she obviously knows a boat anchor when she sees it. "Fiddling" with an obsolete computer is really not going to help her much. It's like giving her an Apple ][. They were nice in their day, but not really appropriate for anything useful today.

It's not a "starter computer"...it's completely obsolete. Your talking about an operating system that is almost 20 YEARS OLD!!

That's like buying telling a kid you are going to get them a new car and wheeling in a Model-T Ford, sans the collectors value. It's sorta interesting as a novelty...but otherwise essentially useless since you can't even keep up a decent speed with traffic when your in town..much less the interstate.

You would have been way better off just saying "no" until you were able to save up enough to buy something that is operable.

coo coo, i understand. Computers in my life are important. They always have to be top of the line. But PC access is PC access and she should be happy. Good Luck.

It will do for now, until I can get her something better. Not my fault she wants to be impatient. Beggars can't be choosers either.

No internet, but all the good ole console emulators and great pc games from back then.

Hook it up on Lan and get a diablo 2 game going ^^

You can watch videos, listen to music...sure my cell phone does all that but we all gotta start somewhere

I can't get the dvd drive to work on it, might have to replace it. Like it won't open at all.

Ir was a great thought, but todays games and programs most likely won't work on it. You will have to probably find 15 year old programs and games.

oh, I'm looking for another one geez, not like she can't upgrade the thing.

I'll buy another one, and she'll probably say that's a piece of junk too.

Get her a library card. They have computers there AND she'll be out of the house! WIN/WIN!

I'm going to take it apart tonight, and do a little bit of upgrading, like with the memory and change out the drive, and also put a 500PW Diablotek in it and hopefully, try to find a DVD drive that will work. Some reason I can't get it to open up.

Are you the same one who is being investigated for child abuse by this kid and her mother? If so, you sound like an enabler to me. Quit trying to be so nice. You have got to be kidding. I am a mother who is completely devoted to her children. I wouldn't allow this kind of treatment to continue from my OWN child, much less my sister's child. As the poster said above, you are your own worst enemy. Buying her anything at this point in time is out of the question. You must find a way to get out of this dysfunctional situation.....all of you!
