On some of those issues I am not sure what liberal or conservative means. Have you considered libertarian? I finally realized that was where I made the most sense aligning.

Good luck!

Both terms are meaningless. You are either an individualist or a collectivist; meaning that rights are either held by individual people (which exist) or groups (which don't exist). You may want to start by resolving the question of rights and where they come from before attempting to place a label on yourself. Where do rights come from? And upon whom are they bestowed?

Honey, that makes you normal in my book. You're a moderate. I'm right there with ya. Congratulations! It's the best place to be. Don't change. The way I see it, it's everyone else who needs to see sense.

ETA: I don't agree with you on all of your stances, but I believe you'll find that there is no political party that will ever align exactly with all of your views.

Interesting, I say you should be what you are.

I have a similar makeup in my beliefs, but I identify liberalism due to
identifying with the workers over employers and the consumer over the corporation.
That is really how I seem to feel when each argument boils down to it.

Vote Ron Paul,
but I digress lol.
Do you have to be anything? In my time Ive voted this way and that, conservative ,liberal ,democrat, republican.
Left, right,up, down. It all depends on policy and issues at the time.
Think of your self as politically emerging...constantly..forever changing.
But as we all know it dont matter a damn, Democracy is dead anyway.
I vote just to make myself feel just a fraction better than if I didnt.
Peace

Trust me, Ron Paul is my hero. I am a registered republican ONLY to vote for Ron Paul.
After that I will go to independent.

Haha, the elephant is quite clear to me. Just because I don't know what "label" I am doesnt mean i'm not educated. I believe in FREEDOM and the Constitution our founding father's fought to protect, to the fullest extent.
I have learned quite alot this past year about politics, the federal reserve and its corrupt ways, basically every topic on ATS I have some knowledge about. Politics and the economy being number one. I just never see the conservative/liberal conversation here on ATS at all. I figured ive learned enough about politics so i mine aswell see what stance I sit on...

And how can you say that lol? I don't take your comment offensively, but after 2 years of reading post's on ats the countless political threads, you can be sure i'm not a brainwashed sheeple. I am aware of all the big problems. The big picture if you will. I realize Washington has been bought out and HAS been for a long time. I'm always focused on the elephant, I figured I mine aswell start learning political terms and definitions, which is the part I lack most about the topic.

Looks to me like you're what's called a "rational human being." Strictly liberal or strictly conservative, in my opinion, is reserved for the truly, clinically insane. Also known as "politicians".

Another thing is

Do you think America should be controlled by the policies of a democratic process LIB

or

by the policies of privately held individuals, companies and interests CON

I think those are the essential questions that divide the current spectrum

It's hard to say because I believe in the free market CON, but at the same time I believe that the role of government shouldn't rely on companies to run things.. If that makes sense... You have to figure i'm fairly new at politics. I'm just trying to learn as much as I can about it. If i don't make sense i'm sorry. I guess I just lack the knowledge to choose between the two.

I've been trying to do this same thing, like what values do i have that would make me a liberal or conservative or whatever.. and i come up with zilch. Of course in canada things are a bit different political wise, but people use it as an identifier and i was curious about mine..

Im a nomad i guess

Probably the most important issues of our day are economy and military spending. At the rate the US gov't is going, we won't have a country left to enforce any laws on the social issues. Those decisions will come down from the UN, and dissenters will report to re-education. Social issues pale in comparison to the corruption and systematic deconstruction of the United States.

But hey, American Idol is on, I can't think about that craaaaazy conspiracy stuff right now!

That sounds a bit like you support communism. No offense intended. That was just my thought as I read it.

Ya, he is pretty conservative compared to what many would have us believe.

Conservatives want to eliminate regulation, which is the process which democracy is
expressed through legislators, who in turn make legislation.

This process is used to effect change of policy.

If people cannot have a representative voice in democracy,
because you disallow or disagree with regulation,

you are leaving all the power of policy to the people who control the policy in the market place,
private individuals and powers.

Because otherwise you don't not believe legislators should be allowed to interoperate the
will of the people as it applies to private forces.

American Conservatism in a nut shell.

Why do you want a label?
Why is the need to have a title so strong in our race?
I vote for what I feel is right. I don't need a descriptive saying my views because my views are subject to evolve as my intelligence evolves.
