I can however, say that for anyone in Illinois, the Chanute AFB is NOT a C.C.
It does not have any barbed wire fencing.
It does have runways on it, which can still be used, but the entire base is used like this.
The west part of the base, and barracks, are used for Lincolns Challenge.
It's a JR/ROTC program, that kids have to be sent to, or enlist in, and they pay you when completed.

The south western part of the base, 1 block south of that, holds Rantoul's public Pool.
The southern part of the base is empty, and used for Balloon Festivals/Carnivals.
The eastern part of the base has a few factories, etc.
There are some apartments in the lower sotuh side, below the actual base, but these are part of it, and were sold to whomever wished to purchase them.
There are no guards on the base, save for the Lincolns Challenge area, nor any when you come into the base at the old guard shack.

Chanute COULD become one easily, but it's been scrapped out, and made into so many different things now, that it would take too long, and the townspeople would get too suspicious.
