Is Satanism really evil?

Is Satanism really all that evil?
I've been looking into Satanism recently and most Satanists I've seen say it's a good way of living and it's nothing like the Christian's say.
They say it's a good way of life and they live under the rules doing good things.

I've read up about it and I've seen it's not all that bad?

Its not evil, but it focuses on the material world as opposed to the spiritual...

Satanism is materialism...

And "evil" is subjective...

I misread the title as "Is Santorum really evil?"

To which I'd say, yes.

Satanism, on the other hand, is not what the fearmongering Church makes it out to be. To my knowledge, satanists don't even worship "Satan," it's more of a branch of Paganism.

Because they read the world "Satan" and relate it to evil, similar to how Israel relates to Jews, and bashing Israel often goes hand in hand with accusations of antisemitism.

It's just another religion. Nothing evil about it itself, but of course extremists that went around killing others would be evil.

It's not a coincidence that people who call a religion evil is of a contrary religion(random haters aside, because everything is hated by someone. Everything).

I can just imagine the squabbles getting ready to bust out in this thread...

The main point of Satanism is using dark energies to empower yourself, at the detriment of others. Negative energies attract, so you have to harvest negative energy in order to fulfill your desires...and if you don't harvest those negative energies, they will be planted within your life and plucked at leisure.

Basically, you balance on a swords-edge of happiness and despair. Where you fall depends on how you handle life...and generally, in Satanic cults, your life is pretty dark and gruesome. That's what Satanism is: negativity.

Gnostics and christians have the same issue with the material world... they believe IT is evil...

Money is actually the ROOT of all so called "evil"...

Satan is the head demon.... thats why its called satanism... Look up the "satanic bible" by Anton Le vey... That will explain more then i can

Thats actually not true, satanism doesn't promote negativitiy at all... quite the opposite actually... they put a positive light on materialism....

And the actual religion is NOT based on Negativity at all

Yes Satanism is evil. People that follow this horrible cult are victims of Satan's manipulation.

2. Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams!

3. Satan represents undefiled wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deceit!

SO, this is all good and pleasant stuff? Vengeance, indulgence, sin as a physical gratification and something to be sought after, and the demonization of Satan has kept the Church in business?

Sounds more like conspiracy than anything else.

My point is not to support the church, but to disillusion those who believe that Satanism is a suitable alternative.

Why can't we accept that simply Loving each other is all that's needed? Not reading from a book every sunday or indulging in sin?

so how would one know how even to practice 'satanism'?

so he was smart and seen the underground following that was emerging.
he penned a book called the satanic bible which basically mocked christianity.13 commandments instead of 10 and the like.(actually my signiture is one of his commandments! i think its funny:roll
well his book was a hit in the hollywood circles(go figure) and he gained a bit of celebrity status for it.
then in the 70's came the temple of set that tried to be more serious about satanism. forget the originators name but he did the talk show thing in the 80's and he had weird eyebrows!
satanism is a made up 'religion'. to have a real religion,you need a belief system and the dogma that goes with it.
you cant just say my religion is the exact opposite of christianity and call it a religion! there is not enough litterature to worship satan's ways.(besides the christians who try to scare you with thair incorrect myths about lucifer!)
so do yourself a favour and research this topic till it burns your eyes!!! you'll find a lot of erronious information that you have been fed!
perhaps you can look into lucferianism!

Satanism requires faith, it requires a god, and it requires service. It is a religion.

Being one that does not believe in god or satan, I tend lean to lean towards all religious based beliefs being evil in their own way. Especially when those groups attempt to force feed me their beliefs when I do not willingly accept them as my own. If every religious group would stick to their own and stop "spreading the word" the world would be a much better place. I can coexist with anyone, provided they let me do my own thing without any chastising for my actions. I do not need god, satan or a book telling me what I should and should not do.

faith has no part of religion .this is a middle ages christian threat that has stuck all these years!
faith was something the pope and the glergy demanded from the illiterate peasants they were trying to convert!
have faith my child,for burning you at the stake is the only way to save your soul from the devil. you can't praise nature any more,that is of the devil! god doesnt want you to do that have faith in what i say and i'll fast track you to heaven with this fire!!!!

Actually, the root of all evil is love. Just as love is also the root of all good. There are two sides to every coin.

Satan is anything that opposes "God" or, more specifically, Abrahamic religions. This includes logic, science, and the pursuit of "truth." Take a look at the bible. The first book, Genesis, condemns Adam and Eve for their pursuit of knowledge. Now look at Lucifer, a name that has nothing to do with evil and everything to do with light, which is the universal symbol for enlightenment (knowledge/truth).

Religion, by design, is a means of trapping men and women via fear through ignorance or misteaching.
