This is hitting home because I know him. I've met him. He records up in Port St Lucie at my friends studio. They work together. He always looked the picture of health.

I am stunned! I guess we really and truly never know when our number is up.
Makes me want to enjoy each moment a little bit more.

RIP Davey.

I wonder how many brilliant and good people died today that got nothing but a small space in a newspaper? But you know we as a society make a big deal out of it when one some singer dies... the entire planet is turned on it's head.

Oh noez!!
I'm with silo13 on this one...
I adored the Monkees (though I preferred Peter Tork to Davey Jones); when I was a kid and got "punished", it took the form of "you can't watch the Monkees". I remember sitting in the hallway with my chin on my knees at least listening to it. First crush...oh yeah.

The very first pop concert I attended was the Monkees, their opening act was the Fifth Dimension, when the "Age of Aquarius" was their new hot release....my mom took me. I was a preteen.

*sigh*

Well, I still have an old vinyl LP of the Monkees in my basement....
so the magic can still be enjoyed.

Thanks for the post.

Oh, lighten up.
We're all entitled to feel sad at the loss of a thing that was once important to us, that represents our youth and our memories of joy.

I cried when my dog died a year ago. It was a huge deal. I didn't read the obituaries and say "well, I can't mourn Megan, she was just a dog. Here's some brilliant scientist do did great things; here's a teenager across the planet that had a promising career as a ..."
We'd all be overwhelmed if we did that.

nooooooooo!

I'm just a little too young to have had a crush on him in his heyday but I really liked him in reruns of the Monkees and his appearance on Brady Bunch and the Brady Bunch spoof movie.

I didn't see this news on my usual news page today. I came across this thread somehow in the ATS links. What a shock. He looked so fit and great for his age. My other favorite who is in that age range, Tommy Lee Jones, is the one who looks really run down and is the one I would have worried about. It just goes to show heart disease is very sneaky.

Whoa, I just went to check on how old Tommy Lee Jones is and learned according to Wiki he is a spokesperson promoting fracking.
.
well so much for being a favorite, wish he would just stick to acting.

Anyway, RIP Davy Jones.

I know what you mean but I think this is about relating to someone.

Only noted, famous and infamous people touch strangers. That's the way it is in this 6-sense existences of ours. Maybe once we evolved into telepathic Beings (again), empathy will instinctually be felt by all for all. But for now, in this incarnation, we are limited.

I think if I didn't personally know Davy, although still sad, I probably wouldn't have posted it. I'm not one for celebrity gossip. But he was fine over the holidays. Didn't drink. Didn't smoke. No drugs that I was aware of ....just had a bunch of relationships but....it just showed me today.that ..we just never know. And although I always knew that, I was deeply reminded today.

Thanks for posting

And...in this day and age, rather young too!

It's not like he was sick. Or off the deep end involved in a life of illicit drugs. He just felt crappy Tuesday and [[[bam]]].......died 36 hours later. It's shocking really. I expect this of Keith Richards or Ozzie Osborne. Not good ol' squeaky clean Davy who was still performing! At least here in Florida anyway.

So those who live a good clean healthy life, eat well and jog to the health store every week.....it's no guarantee unfortunately.

So LIVE IT UP. That's my motto for today (subject to change by tomorrow howeva'
