Build the same except use a tetrahedron instead of a cube and it works a lot better.

Hmm, all this talk of sharp right angled corners reminds me of Lovecraft's "Hounds of Tindalos" that dwell in corners and enter our dimension through them.

Pretty cool looking box but I'd be too afraid to look more into it.

Honestly? Nothing. It's a cube with mirrors on the inside. Apart from some interesting, distorted images, there will be nothing paranormal about it.

To start with, the idea that it's a "Devil's Toybox" is misleading as the Devil doesn't exist - he's a wholly made up figure used to install fear in otherwise weak minded people as a means of control.

I think any perceived sounds or buzzing or "hissing" is only in the mind of the person claiming to hear it.

And besides, I've never seen anything in the mirror apart from my own ugly mug looking back at me.

Star and flag. Mirrors, crystal balls, bowls with water, all seem to be able to be used for scrying or other paranormal purposes. I myself haven't had any luck with stuff like that, but they do seem to have a solid history with such things.

I'm not even convinced on this subject, i just thought it was pretty interesting. Plus it lead me to ask several other questions pertaining to mirrors.

Interesting idea.

Mirrors are simple yet powerful technology - after all we use them to see back in time when we point them towards space.

Could be used to capture data in a virtual time machine with a very large array of mirrors. The caveat would be that you couldn't go further than the time the array was created unless you could incorporate enough naturally occurring reflections to tunnel your way to the past - or access to a wormhole where you could seek out mirrors & reflective surfaces to incorporate.

Here's last nights c2c discussion on the matter.

I think the corners of the box might have something to do with how it works (assuming it does work at all).

I say this because there are reports of a certain kind of entity that people sense in the top corners of their rooms sometimes. I've encountered it as well, and I've never been so terrified in my life! You can't see them, but you know they are there. They give of the most powerful feeling of malevolence ever! (again, assuming it's not just some trick of the mind)

So the corners, coupled with the mirrors which have a long history of being portals of sorts.

I listened last night to the interview on C2C and the soundclip gave me goosebumps.. Hopefully that previous user can get a hold of JPW's audio cause it really needs to be heard. Assuming of coarse its authentic...

some theories are that they could be used in some way to open a portal to another dimension.. and thats where the sounds are coming from...

I think I just might build one when I get some free time.. a small one anyways. I'd love to see someone go all out and create one which you could actually stand inside.

the concept of mirrors being able to reflect something more than just your own image is widespread in world history. water casts a reflection of what you are. but there always seems to be something just a bit more sinister with mirrors. everything from vampires to "bloody mary" iterations dig into the horrors of what the mirror reflects, or doesn't reflect. i'm not convinced about the various angles of the mirrors doing anything, but i don't believe in other dimensions either. i do believe that mirrors give me pause especially in the moonlight. it is said that in direct moonlight, one cannot read words in a book. i would daresay that an image reflected in moonlight often looks quite disturbing. the skin pallor seems off, the way the shading seems to make the face more angular and drawn. a caricature of yourself, if you will. even in movies, the mirror reflects the other personality hidden from the world. i leave you with this very odd experience i had when i was a child. walking down the streets of new york, i noticed a homeless woman who clearly was not in her right mind, talking to herself while looking into a hand held mirror. she talked as if she was talking to another person, laughing and carrying on. i stopped and stared for awhile. she caught my gaze and motioned me over. she showed me her mirror and started laughing hysterically. i looked into the mirror expecting to see my own reflection and saw her laughing in it. i ran away. i was 10 at the time, and i don't think i've ever been as terrified as i was back then. of course now i've got a mortgage and kids going to college, but that's a different type of terror. just my two cents.

I have listened to the episode now and the sounds coming from the toybox sure seems strange.
Especially played backwards.

I am getting rather intrigued to build one.

I feel i am being advertised to by being made to listen to a program, or being fed something of some sort even if it seems to have no clear agenda... therefore I refuse to listen but would still like to hear what the topic describes. It makes me feel kind of insulted and that my time is being wasted and if there is some other point to be made on the show, i wish whoever wants to squeeze more ideas or whatever in... that they would just come out and do it. Even if this is not the case, why do people seldom think of others people's time?

Does anyone have an edited version?

They play a short recording which at first is rather filled with the usual static noise and such. Some strange sounds can be heard among the static. Then they clean it up a bit with their studio gear, it sounds allot better.
The third take is to play it backwards, and they claim it sounds like someone saying; help me...
I do not agree with that. But I can still understand that they think so.
Though they are aware of the fact that one hears what one wants.

The man they are interviewing seems to be working with paranormal things and has done some tv shows about such things. One called possessed possessions.

They also talk about opening the toybox and place possessed things inside.

That makes me feel a little better about having to listen to something lengthy while not really knowing what it is.

Well it is not the most crazy thing I have heard, but not to bad either.
If you are interested in the paranormal, you could probably find some other fun things at the webpage.

Finger marks making streaks in front of me & roomate. Windexed the mirror, then the entity drew half of a heart. Long story, I'm on iPhone.

Yes, the streaks appeared from the inside. Entity brought on from ouija board.
Very violent and negative, could feel it's presence, static/cold like. Dark translucent shadow appearance.
Communicated telepathically "leave me alone, go away!"

Very real, very negative.
