Suspicious Commercial

I was just watching TV when this suspicious commercial came on. A little girl was playing hopscotch, then stopped. She talked about gas masks, dust masks, first aid kits, transister radios, and a long list of other stuff that I can't remember. Then the address beready.gov flashes on the screen. I went to the address on the computer and there is no such site. Maybe I remembered the address wrong. I tried variations of it like getready.gov and I still got nothing.

What the hell is that? This commercial makes me suspicious. It could mean anything to just scaring people, to selling more emergency supplies, to something more sinister.

In the UK everyones getting leaflets explaining what to do in an emergency biological/nuclear etc.

It seems to me that the governments know something is going to kick off big time soon and is preparing everyone for it.

Very scary if you ask me.

Didn't you know? September is National Preparedness month (and I don't think this one was thought up by the Hallmark people.)

In NYC, there are semi-cutesy ads on buses & phone booths that attempt to make emergency planning more approachable, as well as PSA's with Gilbert Gottfried & Richard Belzer playing on TV every so often, which make jokes about "go-bags." I think that this is an attempt to make us all feel better about having to have Potassium Iodide tablets handy. Woohoo.

hmm... I didn't know that. But it's a very good time to assign it since it's easier to remember than others as a time of awareness (for obvious reasons)..

Over here we got fridge magnets (for us to write our own phone numbers on as well as where to find our electricity boxes), its kinda pointless, but a nice collectors/propaganda item.

lol the world has gone mad on this, fridge magnets are a great help when your been bombed. I think there stirring up fear and stress so that some govermants wont lose power. Its gives us the idear in our minds that where at war and not to often does a goverment lose when the country is at war.

i heard my first ready.gov commericial on the radio well over a year ago. the first thing i thought of was that the gov knew something big was going to happen, but just didn't come out and say exactly what. i would like to see that tv commerical, sounds creepy

Yeah, they know something big's going to happen. That's because they'll be the ones that do it.......whatever it turns out to be. Don't be blinded by their lies. They're currently wanting to keep everyone in suspense and fear until it happens, and when it does, they know all will turn to them for protection. And in turn, they will gain more power and more money because of it.

The leaflet was pretty useless telling nothing anyone didn't already know

oh god, I pitty the dozen or so relatives I have living in the US (catholic famaly ) here in northen europe we are genually consrned by the level of mass fear you r goverment uses to enforce their power. the propanada machine of the US goverment and its konservative allies pose a threat to world securety far greater than eny terrorist group. Although I appreciate your concern of us here in America, I think you also need to be aware and vigilant of what's going on in your area as well. If you think this is just an issue of America, you are mistaken. With the recent attacks in Spain, and now Russia......and not to mention the UK doing the same thing as the US with infusing it's citizens with fear, I'm equally concerned for people in Europe, and beyond. Granted, northern Europe hasn't seen too much trouble.....at least not yet. But how do you think the EU is going to solidify and become a ruling power over nations that are reluctant or opposed to joining and submitting to it? Some tragedies will happen, conducted by "terrorists", and then people will be persuaded that the EU is necessary for everyone's safety, and that it's in everyone's best interest to join. Bottom line, we all need to be concerned and discover what's really going on.

Typical response from someone who's mind is completely closed to something that may go against what our media says here in the US. Closed to what goes against what our all-knowing and flawless and sinless government will tell us. The same all-knowing government who claim they didn't know anything about an attack that was being planned for 9-11.

From now on, please participate by adding something of substance to benefit the post, otherwise don't post. If you're confused or don't understand as to why I've posted what I have, and if you don't believe what I'm talking about, I will gladly direct you to many sources of alternate news and information (alternate meaning news not controlled by the few huge conglomerates and elitists who can and will censor any material that is undesirable to their cause) so that you may learn some things that may be disturbing to find out. But at least you will slowly come to know the truth of what's going on in our world.

simple truth, you make good points but you do not point out why Spain, russia are being hit.

many criticized spain for pulling their troops out of iraq after the madrid bombings, just like the bombers obviously wanted, but people often forget, that more than 80% of the people was against involvement in Iraq, and the socialists simply made the spaniards voice, spains voice, as they had promised in their campain.
russia on the other hand are just as responsible for their situation as the americans are for theirs, both terrorist groups are enfuled and enraged by the atrocities committed by both superpowers (ex super power in the case of russia)
in the regions in question.
the UK have become in simple terms the lapdog of the US, and the US�s problems have become the UK�s problems, and the UK foolishly look at big brother for guidance.
I should have specified that by northen europe I mean norden aka scandinavia, sweden to be more exact, and true we have also hade our tradgedies in the years after ther 9/11, but not terrorist related.

a interesting side note, when our foreign minister was murdered by a psychopath, cnn bcc and fox was quick to blame terrorists. and no update was made when the killer was caught to explain that it was the work of a lone knifeman...

As for the EU, I hold great hopes for the union of europe, I praised the integration of the post soviet states, and im for the integration of turkey to the EU, because I believe that by tying closer ties with turkey we can lessen the demonized picture of muslims as al being extremists and believing in a false god and being plain evil. it would help the west seeing that
extremism is the same in every religion, and help Americans see that it is a terrible step backwards to reintroduce the church as a political power in the west. hell, the bloodiest genocide in my lifetime was done in the name of jesus, and with support by the Christ democrats of Europe. (Rwanda-94)
sadly for the moment the EU remains an, in practice economical union, I hope that with the diversity of political views in Europe, especially the stronger growing left, will prevent the EU to become another barley democratic federal state like the US. but if nothing is done to mould this opportunity to its true potential, it will perish.

Well, I guess that commercial is serving a good purpose. The United States is currently one of the places where any type of major terrorist "Reichstag" attack could occur. After 9/11, who knows what they'll try on you.

Yeah,what do they know that we dont? I heard somewhere that the cost of sending out that info cost the British taxpayer 8 milliom quid,thats a lot of money for a random flyer drop!!
