But they (those who serve your food) can mistreat people? I fail to see this logic (rather illogically) stance in regards to this. Interesting really if you actually think about it. People are calling the person that left such an anemic tip (without knowing my previous questions I have stated) and are making a public service announcement that the wait staff now has carte blanche to be just as big of a jerk by tampering with his health.

Man what a scumbag this banker douche is. well, when the shtf and hes begging the common man for sympathy cause hes one of "us" now I hope the overwhelming majority of honest hard working people who have been screwed over by such bankers gives it right back to him. it's not a issue of the fact hes a human being and should be treated with respect. he made his choice a while ago to forsake everything that he is in the name of corruption and greed. Hope some commoner forsakes him and lets him starve/suffer to death. it's only fitting. he's not on humanities side and therefore is guilty of crimes against humanity. I actually broke off a date with a girl who was good looking when found out she worked at a bank. if she was just normal about it as in "hey I just work there cause I need a job" i would of given her a chance but she was sorta arrogant about the whole financial situation in the us/world. so I dumped her. she still calls and has no idea as to why I decided to ditch her. talk about oblivious.

Anyways. sadly it's not just bankers who act this way. t's anybody on a power trip/ just a year ago I went to lunch with a old friend of mine who is a LAPD cop in north hollywood, CA. Known him since elementary school. thought we'd meet up for lunch and talk about old times. we went to a popular mexican eatery called casa vega. well known in the valley of Los angeles. he was on duty in his cop uniform it was mid-day. the bill came out to about 75 bucks. we were waiting for our cars at the valet afterwards when our server came out and asked in a very polite and meek way if their was a problem with the service since he received a one dollar tip on the bill of 75 bucks. I was initially confused since the my cop "buddy" was covering the tip. this guy (the cop) at the time made about twice what I made. Keep in mind there was NOTHING wrong with the service. responded like a prick and said literally "i know how much i tipped you!" in response. what a dumb piece of human trash this cop was. (dont get me wrong I am friends with several cops, and sheriffs in the area and they are NOT PRICKS LIKE THIS GUY) any ays he got back into his patrol car and went back to work. I meanwhile went back inside and gave the guy the rest of his well earned tip and said I was sorry for the way my associate had acted.

I Stopped even talking to or returning this old friend from grade school who had become a cop and represented the lapd in the worst way after that event.

He got his a year later by the hands of a friend of mine who left him stranded on the corner of mulholland and coldwater canyon (about a mile and a half up a hill from anywhere one could walk to to get help) at 2 in the morning after he graciously gave this dip a ride home from a bar when he was tanked. the guy was being a racist prick and so my buddy kicked this cop out of his car. according to witnesses. he attempted to pull rank at the local fire department begging for a ride home. the fire chief (a huge mexican) took one look at him and said "your a cop?...F- NO! ) and slammed the door on him and told him he was tresspassing and to get lost. the cop whined like a baby and said it was a violation of professional courtesy and decided to piss on the fire stations illuminated sign and said he would be back to settle things. Last we heard he had to walk home in winter through miles of jacked terrain. he got his in the end, and nobody feels sorry for him either. the story was infamous at our high school reunion a year later. I hope this banker prick gets the same too. in my opinion they are guilty of minor crimes against humanity in general.

The connection is inferred and basically hearsay. Since this was basically born from a "friend of a friend" type of Internet blog. In which there the claims are made that the person that left the tip always complained about the 99%.

Couple that with a 'near' 1% tip and the witless comment "Get a real job" -- That is how people are connecting it and are bought hook line and sinker without even questioning the validity. It just fuels their sensationalism and knee jerk reactions to keep them going for one more day.

Their jobs, are ludicrous. They work at corruption. They can eat some humble pie, I want no money, no bankers, but high level, high educated committees and councils of citizens, half men and women, we are the ones who manage things.

And, I want no corruption, no forcing, they don't get to force slavery any more on people.

And they can be forced to be equalized to everyone.

Sickening bunch of deluded gnostics, and that is not meant to slur the positive gnostics, who I'm sure exist, who don't have a clue what consequence means.

Ozzy, I am sorry you are wrong. How can you say that the problem is systemic when it is propagates by greedy local businessmen, and (I can say this as I used to be one) people in a desperate situation who are willing to put up with the abuse. I don't mean from customers I mean from businesses that pay below minimum wage, which in every other country means you CANNOT pay less, that is why it is called MINIMUM.

You ask who spends this much time railing against something that cannot be changed, well my friend, the question should eb who gives up that easily and accepts the yoke of unjust oppression. only chattel. And with that attitude that is all you will ever be!

The service industry is a proud and long tradition. it is the art of the host or hostess. They are the face of the business. They are what keep people coming back. Anyone who does not realize this is welcome to fail in business. and they will. But with everything going on in the world. Don't rail against the one idiot who has an inflated ego threatening to spike his food. Rail against the perversion of business ethics that creates this situation, and rail against YOURSELVES for accepting it.

I am a small business owner, I pay fair a fair wage for a fair days work, I was a sever also so I know., This is my word., here me ROAR!

I agree that if the banker was served well he should of gave a better tip..
But imo the ones in the wrong in this situation are the restaurant owner in America, how can they justify giving such bad wages??. If it was anywhere else they would be shut down.
I think all them servers etc needs to come together, and do something about making sure they get paid atleast minimum wage. After hearing some of the storys in here, im sickened by the banker, but even more so by the USA Restaurant Owners....

If true, then it aggravates me because I know someone like this. He is a friend of perhaps 25 years, He struggled to get ahead, but eventually moved into the largest estate and house in our city. Today he is exceedingly wealthy.

I was appalled when I realized what he was doing with tips. What he did was take all our tips from a meal, and then pull off what he felt the waitress should receive and pocket the rest. At first I was suspicious because he did it in such a clever manner I wasn't sure, but then I asked a mutual friend after a meal, and we both because suspicious.

So after that When it became tip time, we would put our tips in our own pockets and hand it to the waitress individually, but in front of him. Put him on the spot as now he had to openly give his tip to the waitress.

One afternoon a large group of us went to a country restaurant that has a unique scenic vista. The 12 of us occupied a table to was the best view. Since many did not know of our friends penchant for scalping tips, we wondered silently what we would do. At the end of the meal, the tips were scattered about the table and my FRIEND scanned them then when we all stood to go, he announced, 'you all go ahead and I'll finish my drink." Well instead we all stood there until he finished his drink. He was thoroughly frustrated and kept telling us he would meet us in the parking lot. We all stuck together, including those who had no idea, and finally he left the table broken hearted.

Yes my friends, indeed they do live.

And now you know why religion is a tool used by the richest to keep the poor in control.
Imagine a society that didn't think that way..that didn't see some sort of justice coming once your dead..imagine a society ready to make things right.

Yes, religion is needed to keep the highest safe, in control, and without consequences for their actions.
After all, the poor think the rich will get theirs in the end..so no need to stand up for whats right while alive...

Let us accept that God exists. But what if he didn't? Well, we would have to invent him, because he is necessary for the individual / society, for whatever reasons.

not a matter of equality these people are mad at others for having more... That's called greed

2nd... It's still hilarious.

Some, sure
Republicans: They believe we will deport any non-white person and install christianity as the national religion
Democrats: They believe the government will pay all their bills and they get to do everything for free

We can paint entire movements, parties, etc by the fringe idiots if we want...or we can actually try to learn the actual core issues of a movement/party/etc.

Really it depends on how much gray matter you have in your brain that determines if you understand a movement, or feel the need to simply paint an entire movement by the few wackjobs that your programmers instruct you to understand.

It's not on those outside the movement to tell the wackjobs from those with serious points to make.
It's those in the movement who need to speak up and say STFU GTFO to the wackjobs.
They won't though because they care more about appearing large in numbers that they are willing to over look the actions of the wackjobs.
It's not the wackjobs that worry me, they will go off and be crazy no matter what they do in life.
What worries me is the sane people with real points turning a blind eye to things like rape and theft within their own movement.
If they turn a blind eye now, what will happen later?

I've alwasye criticized the media for criticizing the Republican party for ostracizing their own when they falter and don't life up to the ideals of being a Republican.
It may be cut throat but at least they are willing to say no they don't represent us if they are willing to do xyz.
It's ridiculous and what people do on their own should be their own business, but at least the collection of Republicans are willing to say this is what we stand for and we will cut loose any dead weight.

What the Republicans do is extreme, but the OWS people could learn from their stance of kicking their own peoples reares and saying shape up or ship out.

A banker left a 1% tip in defiance of 'the 99%' at a Newport Beach restaurant the other week, according to his dining companion and underling who snapped a photo of the receipt and posted it to his blog, Future Ex Banker. (Update: the blog is now offline.)

In posting the photo, the employee gave some background on his boss and the receipt:

Mention the “99%” in my boss’ presence and feel his wrath. So proudly does he wear his 1% badge of honor that he tips exactly 1% every time he feels the server doesn’t sufficiently bow down to his Holiness. Oh, and he always makes sure to include a “tip” of his own.

The "tip" of his own in this case was to tell the server to "get a real job." Pleasant.

After reading this, it really pissed me off. How could someone take out their frustrations against a group by targeting a waitress? Why? This is messed up on so many levels and made me sick to my stomach reading it. This kind of action is EXACTLY why the 99% are pissed off because of these sociopath elitist bankers like this guy.

The guy who wrote the blog was with this banker during that lunch and was also mad about what he witnessed and posted the image online for all to see. (below)

In their heads it's justified because she was entitled to a tip.
As long as it's justified by an entitlement, a need, or something they deserve or see as fair it's okay to commit any number of crimes against someone else.

Interestingly I would be first in line to personally shun this person if they in fact did leave such a tip for the sole purpose of "making a point". He most surely would not be my friend. But again, if we had horrible wait service, I would probably tell him that the tip was justified.

The waitress's wage is what is entitled to her, through a private contract with her employer (who sets her minimum wage based on employment of tipped staff) and everything else is extra. Come at me with a smile and give me excellent service and I will gladly reward such service with a hefty tip; come at me like you hate your job with an attitude and you get squat.

But those who are so "upset" and raging about how this guy is a jerk won't move past the knee jerk reactions.

I'm the same way.
I would not be friends with a person who would mess with a waiter/waitress just to make a point.

On the same token I've had horrible service and not tipped the waitress.
I mean the service was beyond horrible it brought everyone's mood down and we were celebrating passing a Calc 3 final.
We personally tipped out the Sushi Chef because we know they get part of the tips just like a bartender paid our bill and left.
The waitress actually followed us to our car and grabbed one of the women demanding a tip.
Her mistake we knew the owner, and called him up and went right into see him.
It was the last straw he had been waiting for and canned her on the spot.
I'm sure that will get me tons of hate on this thread but I digress...

If it was horrible service than the tip was justified, if he was making a point the universe will make it's corrections eventually.
For people on this thread to advocate destruction of property, theft or worse is ridiculous.

I never served a bad drink even to the a holes who wouldn't tip, my job was to do the best I could.
Any tip I got was awesome, but not getting one didn't diminish the fact that I mixed damn good drinks and was proud of my work.
If they didn't tip it said something about them and their character not me.
Whatever you do in life do it will and the rest should come out in the wash.

The major theme of your post is take care of what you can control and do your best.

The above is hardly taught today nor pushed. Yes, waiting tables is a low paying job. Yes it sucks when you are left a tip that one feels unbecoming to their level of service.

Does that make them an instant a-hole? Man I am glad that a majority of these people responding are not on a legislative nor judicial career path.
