I always enjoy your threads. Thanks for posting this. The truth is that the founding fathers and the present government have agendas just like any and all humans. The problem occurs when they have agendas that interfere with the average persons way of life. They can't just live and let live. To me this makes them sociopaths. The control freaks make things bad for everyone.

Making agendas that others have to follow because they hold the power is obviously wrong, and yet, what can we do about it. "Resistance is futile", I think really comes into play here. I feel that another revolution will be coming if the people , who are now apathetic, ever wake up to how they are being taken advantage of.

I'm an American, and I grasp and agree with the presented material.. I attribute that to living outside of the United States for several years, and getting to see it from the prospective of (three) countries where there is a great deal of devastation, in which America's hand played a roll. Prior to that though, I could have seen where this message could come across as something that I would take issue with. I suggest to anyone that can't at least find something from this, other than disdain for "Anti-American rhetoric", to live outside the US for a while, or at least remove yourself from it by looking at it from the prospective of other nations.

For the non-Americans here, please remember that America has many great people.. some that grasp what our country has done, and continues to do.. some that don't. No one is immune to imperfection, even if it is based in ignorance to issue.

Good OP.
Perhaps I am just a sucker for Thoreau.

It might be a little too blunt and direct for the average American still stuck in the illusion.

Nice find.

The American people have been coddled for way to long and it's bluntness that they actually need right now to "shock" them and snap them out of this hypnotic state they have been living in for 2 centuries. It's a slap to the face sometimes that can snap one out of this.

"Let your life be the friction to stop the machine"... interesting visual image there and one that is targeted solely at citizens of the US in your OP. However, can this thought not be applied to governments all across the globe? Just a question there. Having mentioned you are not an American, may I then ask what pressure you have placed on your own government to stop the gears of their injustices on your country's citizens? I am not trying to be snarky in that comment. But if you wish for us to stand up and take action, tell us what works to stop the machine in your country?

Which gears in the machine of our government would you suggest we concentrate on? If we concentrate on just one or just a few, the other gears keep running. If we concentrate on many, the friction on all gears becomes inaffectual, does it not? There are so many parts of this American government machine that needs to be stopped it becomes an overwhelming undertaking even for someone like me who is dedicated to trying the best I can to stop the various injustices I see being forced not only on US citizens but on the global communities as well.

It's all well and good that you are engaged in an effort to help open our eyes to what is going on in our own country. I'll give you kudos for that...but tell us how we can help ourselves and in turn, help you, out of the mess we all find ourselves in?

So the United States has some questionable action's in it's history. Show me a nation that does'nt, there are no innocent nations in the world.

Pshh...more leftist propaganda. If you believe all this, you'll believe anything. I watched all of it. I disagree with every basic assumption made about history, politics and economics that this "documentary" raises. It is wrong on every possible level.

While there are many gears that we could attack, there is only that we need to attack. Attacking this one with only 5-10% of the tax paying population will put an end to this beast we have allowed to grow before it consumes us all. All we have to do is STOP! Stop buying things we don't need. Stop using credit. Stop paying taxes. Stop going to movies and restaurants. Stop buying new cars. Stop buying new clothes. Reduce gas consumption.

1) Stop buying things we don't need: CDs, DVDs, Games, $200 shoes, 60" TVs. There are many many more things.
2) Stop using credit: Cut those cards. Get out of debt. Debt is what lubes those gears. If we refuse to acquire debt, the gears have much less lube.
3) Stop paying taxes: Increase your exemptions on your W-4 to 10 or more. Every dollar you keep is $10 they can't "create". The less fuel you buy, the less taxes they collect. The less anything you buy, the less taxes they collect.
4) Stop going out: to movies, restaurants, amusement parks, etc.... Stay home. Read to your children. Fly kites with them. Get to know your loved ones.
5) Stop buying new cars: Buy used from private owners who no longer can afford the second(or third) vehicles.
6) Stop buying new clothes: Thrift stores, flea markets, garage sales. You can get almost anything from these.
7) If you are single, with no dependents, just drop out entirely. Work for yourself. Work only enough to get the things you need.
8) When you must buy things, buy from locally owned businesses whenever possible.

These steps would spell the death knell of mass consumerism. Without the "gotta have it now" attitude so prevalent in our society, the leeches will have so much less that they can siphon off. We can destroy the machine if we try.

I got to let you in on a little secret.

You disagreeing with a documentary does not make it false or wrong.

Please point out the parts where they are wrong and give me your version of events.

And don't say the whole vid is wrong because you obviously didn't watch then.

Are you suggesting that it's ok because everyone else is doing it, or that we should be linking you tube videos of all nations' inconsistencies in the way they portray themselves in their histories to further derail a topic that is clearly about America?

I believe the video addresses some very important issues. Of course it is an opinion, a belief, and you can disagree with some or all of it; that would be your opinion/belief. However if you can stop feeling insulted by it because it paints America in a bad light, you would see that much if not all of what it talks about is indeed how that system has worked and continues to plow ahead.

I do not hate my country but I do utterly despise our politicians, military leaders and financial overlords. We are the mechanism for their success as long as we are useful to them. By either disobedience or death, we become an obstacle that must be disposed of. With numbers, we have hope but as splintered groups of dissension we will fail.

I do hold hope that someday people will look past the differences of each other, many of which are intentionally pounded into our heads by a ruling authority, and see that together we can make a difference.

Thank you for the OP. S&F

I am an American citizen and proud to be so, but not of my government,

You nailed it!

This is exactly how i feel about my government.

I´m proud to be a Dutch citizen, everytime i leave my house i see the beauty of our country and the people living within the country.

Yet that doesn´t automatically equate to being fond and-or proud of your government and it´s actions.

You´re an honest straight forward person and your comment is much appreciated.

seriously..

comments like yours make me happy.

it proves that me that some Americans can see through the puppetry and are brave enough to admit the US has some flawes. (again, just like any other country)

underlining is mine.

exactly why i made the thread.

i do feel, and this is a personal opinion/observation, that many Americans feel offended whenever a thread pops up that is critical of the US and its actions.

let me again reassure you, this has NOTHING to do with you as a people.

This should be a quote that goes down in history.

Very well said

I share this 'utopian' sentiment.
We're divided by everything!

You having the brand 'American' and me having the brand 'Dutch' is in fact something that seperates us from eachother.

Because you're 'American' and i'm 'Dutch', we must be different.

We need to get rid of this way of thinking.

How cliche this is going to sound but in the end, we're all from flesh and blood, we all inhabit the same blue marble, we live together on this marble and we die together on this marble.

Yet we're so enstranged from one another.

Well yeah but that was because the documentary adressed America.

However, can this thought not be applied to governments all across the globe? Just a question there.

A very valid question and a question that can be answered with definit YES.

Having mentioned you are not an American, may I then ask what pressure you have placed on your own government to stop the gears of their injustices on your country's citizens?

Again a very valid question and i thank you for stating them politely.

I'm involved in our local politics, i took part in a couple of protest (admitted that was not against the bankers but against Monsanto and their GMO food, but still...)
Generally speaking i try to make people more aware.

I am not trying to be snarky in that comment.

I know, that's why i thanked you for being so polite.

But if you wish for us to stand up and take action, tell us what works to stop the machine in your country?

Nothing much really!

The same (international) agenda is being played out despite the outcry of citizens.

Which gears in the machine of our government would you suggest we concentrate on? If we concentrate on just one or just a few, the other gears keep running. Want my real thoughts on this?
Or a political correct answer?

Imho nothing will solves this but bloodshed.

I think this man was right.

I'll again give you kudos for being polite and nice.

Much respected.

Here's a little secret, too. It's called "reframing" and it exists to support or change the meaning of perceived events. The "founding of the nation on bloodshed" part of this "documentary" is what I call "conquering". This nation was conquered by force and guile by those who had better weapons, tactics, and ideas. This was just as true two hundred years ago as it is now and will be a thousand years from now. The crux of the matter is how these acts are perceived. If you find the notion of the stronger, faster, or better "winning" at anything somehow repugnant, which apparently a lot of people here do, you will "reframe" these events in such a way as to satisfy your subjective biases. You don't think that these are morally "right" therefore you frame them in that light, which also means that you have your head in the sand regarding the nature of the world. The mighty do prosper, regardless of whether you like it or not. America exists because it's a place for those who would be the best, to do so, regardless of your opinion about it. Your opinion about that fact reveals much about yourself, your ambition, your ability, your intelligence, and your capacity. If you fail to rise to the best of your potential, in a society that provides you as much intellectual, economic, and social freedom as the United States does, then you have nobody to blame but yourself. This is the premise upon which the country was founded, and that principle alone is more than worth all of the blood that was shed to found it and continue it's existence. If you are bothered by this state of affairs, I ask you to seriously examine how time you spend blaming the forces that you think are stopping you from accomplishing anything, and compare that to how much much time you spend trying to figure out how to turn the world to your advantage. The moment you start doing that, you will see how the mighty think. And yes that includes the bankers, the entrepreneurs, the C.E.O's, inventors, captains of industry, investors, military leaders, dictators, presidents, and monarchs. Very few of them sit on the internet and whine about how some boogeyman (a person, a social force, a country, whatever) is stopping them. We meet challenges and we overcome them. Just like we did with the Indians. And we don't care what you think about it.

The rest of this video is nothing but collectivist whining, and I refuse to waste my time commenting on it.
