Government Grants??

Has anyone ever gotten g�vernment grants before? I've gotten one for school but am wondering if anyone has applied for one for a house, or to start or expand a business? What is the process? It seems most of the sites on the net want you to buy some program, or software that tells you how to do it. Let me know if you've done it before, or have any experience with it at all. Thanks!!
