Why erase your history?
I say you and everyone you can get to do this, search for "keywords" that are vile and dirty.
Who cares about their info, I have a right to learn about anything I want.

What about everyone with an Android phone? Android operating systems make you create a google account to even use the phone...as far as I know anyway. I created an account to use my phone but do not use the email.

Is there something extra Android users need to do on their phone browser?

this will do nothing, google have evrything caced anyhow the privecy policy change is just them being kind and letting you know they moniter everything you do on your computer even offline,as soon as yo go back online it spews the data into the system.iff you arnt doing anyting illigal or such whats the problem, this verry site has a lot of tracking cookies ect gypsying there way into your pc.if your not a online criminal this has nothing worth worrying about, and tor will not bypass any of this, try a week without using the inernet and i guarantee you will feel better(less paranoid).also i have noticed a huge trend the dailymail has againsed google inc/facebook ect why?well they wanted to purchase shares but where denied so they have a wee hate campaign on the go,bloody stupid

My history has been turned off since I signed up to google.

You'd think if one was so concerned about privacy, they'd have known they could turn history off...

Exactly, I was the same with my old google account (until they canned me for speaking at them like a person and not a dollar sign) and I'd completely forgotten to do it with my new one (Hey we gots ta have a youtube!!)..

but what the eff? Google, just piss off damn it.. it's like ants, they're in your walls, in your carpet, in your toast, in your god damn coffee...

GET OUT OUT DAMN GOOGLE!!

pfft, and I use duckduckgo as the main search engine, just google has had to buy everything else up so it's got it's sneaky friggen fingers in every damn pie.

I hate them with a vile disgust. someone, please make a youtube alternative... and not just a metacafe...

yeah i have a google account but when i checked a month ago ect it was set to off already? and i couldnt find no history ect. I did the cookie thing aswell but will it mess up facebook games ect that my partner plays ect?

You need a non-google associated partner.

Just uninstall him. or her. then remove all the cookies, delete your history, remove all photos and unfriend all their friends. Unlike them too. And stop following them. and then go and install a free partner.

No problem!

Never had it turned on. Why would anybody?

Is it supposed to turn on automatically or something after the new policy kicks in?

It is on by default. So you either turned it off without knowing, or you're still being watched by the googles.

Google Agrees to Allow ‘Do-Not-Track’ Button in Browser. -BusinessWeek

“We’re pleased to join a broad industry agreement to respect the ‘do-not-track’ header in a consistent and meaningful way that offers users choice and clearly explained browser controls,” Google Senior Vice President of Advertising Susan Wojcicki said in the statement.

Looks like they finally bowed to pressure.

Guess you have to use Chrome Browser; but, there are tools for other browsers, that will take care of the Google tracking cookie.

Or maybe they are just saying that to shut us up. It will be hard to prove that they are actually abiding by this.

How many agents would it take to watch and listen to every minute of your families day to day activities?

There isn't enough people on the gov payrolls to do the job. If you think your searches might raise flags somewhere I suggest you think twice. There are a lot more freaks in the US that are freakyer than you. So relax.

BIG BROTHER. GOV. RAISE FLAGS.

^^ tagged for further investigation. Google Agent #199475 Please attend.

It is the first thing one should do when signing up for Google.

Exactly.

Still, google are getting more and more intrusive, I'd not be surprised to find a "Really really turn off tracking?" feature somewhere under the Help and Support pages..

Man.. it's like "I googled my ex girlfriend" and got arrested.

They still have it all.you just dont see it.

use a Linux program that runs from a CD.
you boot the computer from it.

its called Trisquel.
it links to a base that then passes the info
back and forth.

you can use Firefox partable.
just plug in to any computer and run it.
and ever thing you do
is saved to the USB stick.
and when you unplug the USB stik.
all the info goes with you.

This does little to prevent google tracking you.

In general people are not aware how much tracking is done.

What do you think the google+1 button on almost all sites does ?

Helps you rate content ?
Helps webmaster track his users habits ?
Help google build a complete web history of your browser ?

What do you think the share on facebook button does ?

Helps you share things on facebook ?
Helps facebook connect your browsing habits to you ?

Internet rule no. 1 - if you don't pay on a commercially owned site, YOU are the product !

I always start searches from www.startpage.com

They're supposed to be very private. Does anyone know how true their privacy claims are? Thanks!

I have nothing to hide...

So... am I the only one who really doesnt care about these new "policies"? Cause... they wont a affect me a single bit.

I think ppl get crazy over concepts and theoretical uses of certain things rather that with something that actually affects them.

Its almost like living in the third person... it doesnt affect you, but still you take the pain as your own. Well... if you're worried, then you have something to hide. Now if you have something to hide, well... then I have no pity for your "lack of freedom".

Regarding myself... I dont care.
