In some ways I think it is. the ignorance is well hidden in the wording so many may attract but not see to whatthey are attracted to. Sort of like other slang words used by the species in different races. It sounds cool but is still ignorance.

Shows like these are watched by two types of people.
The first type sees it as a freakshow.
The second see it as proud reflection of their way of life.
Whichever one of the two you are saying "no way! who would look at it that way?" to defines which group you belong to.

if anything i'd imagine it would be a glorification of that life practice, since those dumb hicks are generally the backbone of american society, determining ultimate decisions for the rest of us. wouldn't you want to maintain the status quo if it were working so good for you?

You forgot Bayou Billionaire...that's another one, hehe...
Oil was struck on their land, Beverly Hillbillies style, and yet most of the family still lives in trailers on family land....
I love these shows, yes they are freakshows, but they are very entertaining. The Vacation one is especially good, because of the culture clash between them and the typical Hampton elite crowd.
I think the shows have a certain reverence for the "redneck" though, and while they poke fun, it's really in a comedic, not mean light.
