Looking around for unusual news found this website. Oddest craving I ever heard.
I know its probably some weird medical condition on the poor woman, I hope since this article appeared, the poor thing got some medical advice, how "good"could this be for her baby This is definately under the category of weird.

Pregnant woman eats local newspaper

A pregnant woman has told how she has developed a "bizarre craving" for eating her local newspaper.

She says it is the only "only newsprint with the proper flavour" and that she "stashes shredded copies in her handbag for emergency snacks".Ms Curran said: "I could be sitting in the bingo hall and I'll start ripping out pages of the newspaper.

It is a coping method, while some cope with their problems with alcohol and/or drug abuse, others wind up having their own coping process.

Idealy we should get high on Life!!! And learn into the process. And we should never let our demons silenced. We need to talk about it when we have issues. Peace, Love and Understanding

To answer your question 'what weird things have you heard or read?' Most of the weird things I've heard/read read came off this site
Which is not a bad thing at all. I like the fringy kind of stuff.

That made me spit coffee lol. Great reply

I agree with TheGuyFawkes, most likely pica which will compel people to eat everything from flowerpots to laundry detergent. It is generally chalked up (pun intended) to mineral deficiency like iron but it is odd nonetheless and in my 'weird # people do o-meter' sits right up there with geophagia and skydiving.

Thanks for the link out.

My wife craved odd foods when she was pregnant, I remember once she had to have split pea soup desperately. We went to the store and she bought like 10 cans and gorged on it that evening. She ate so much of it that to this day (18 years later) she cannot stand to even think about split pea soup. But the strangest craving I've ever heard of was her pregnant coworker who fantasized constantly about eating dirt. She drove by a construction site every morning on the way to work and confided in my wife that she dreamt of going out there with a spoon, sitting in the middle of the dirt pile and just chowing down. She described it almost like you would expect someone to describe a sexual fantasy, she was into it that much. I don't think she ever actually went through with it though, and once she had her baby the craving went away. Weird stuff!

I am going to post an absolute serious and honest response. During Lamaze (spelling? its the breathing class for pregnant couples) class, the ladies were told not to eat laundry detergent. Apparently its caused enough issues for them to have a warning over.

I have no idea what this post has to do with weird pregnancy cravings.

Maybe she wrote into the paper, was proven wrong and was told to eat her own words?
