I watched that play out this morning and it was a sad scene. I was really looking forward to another one of your threads! They usually bring good discussion to the board.

I started noticing the uptick in off topic, one liners and nonsensical posts last week. I started thinking what is this Youtube? Then I realized, the ATS recaps are being pushed on Youtube and that could be where some of the newer members are coming from. It seems with the flood of it all the mods just can't keep up. Hopefully it will sort itself out.

Rising Against, I'm gonna be on the look out for that thread! I hope you get a chance to re-post it soon.

The same swarm of dung flies are just waiting for that to happen I bet...they're probably pretty riled at the MODS for deleting their stink posts....

ok I thought I was done but there's more...

Once one **** posts a stupid or negative remark it seems it snowballs, it's like they see it and go "oh oh look at me, I can be funny too, lets be really funny, high five".

ok i feel better now, thanks

Having an opinion on a particular subject is great, but when you throw in the hate and bitterness, it only pushes people away from the topic being addressed or debated. People need to have an open mind. There are many sides to every story, and though we may disagree on a particular topic, it doesn’t mean we can’t respect another person’s opinion...

totally agree with everything you said, this quote however really rings true!

I tried to post a thread today, one that took me around 2 weeks to write up in fact. First reply was with-in minutes and it was from a member who's posted in this thread here as well, although I won't name them of course.. all they posted was that I copied the entire thread from elsewhere on the internet which is just a ridiculous lie really. Like I said they posted with-in minutes too.

I ended up having to remove the thread due to the amount of off-topic posts that were immediately caused because of that initial post too as they ended up just ruining the thread.

So yeah, there is a lot of immaturity here. Tried to post something that was actually really good and took me a lot of time, and I got cut down almost immediately. Pretty sad really.

I call it projecting. A lot of these people wouldn’t have a clue on how to put together a meaningful thread if they tried. And of course if they can’t, how can anyone else. I’m sorry you had to dump the thread. Please pass it my way. Love to check it out…

How about YOU contribute at least one (1) thread to ATS and its members? If you can't, than don't complain about anyone else’s...

Oh my...another rant building up. Your astute observation on new posters thread content. I understand we all have different backgrounds, styles for expressing ourselves. But, what drives me up the wall, are the 2 sentence opening posts to new threads...

example:....Title name: I had a dream.

Content of OP:...a couple nights ago i had a weird dream. i seen a bright lite on my ceiling something evil stood near my bed. then i woke up...what u think?

Acccckkkk....those drive me up the wall...I just drive on past them.

totally agree! i guess ATS has to make money though... the more members the more add revenue

it's rubbish!

How does having more members add revenue? Just out of curiousity as I am not obligated to pay for anything on ATS and as long as I don't accidentally click on any of the ad's then they aren't really getting any money off that either. I am not trying to be a smartass lol. I am just wondering.

Well that was me really, not the staff. I personally asked for it to be removed. Reason being I didn't think it was very fair to do so much work on something (literally weeks) and then have it completely messed up with a bunch of silly lies and then a bunch of off-topic posts all with-in the space of a few minutes.

I'd at least like the opportunity to start over, especially as the thread as a whole was maybe 5 - 10 minutes old at an absolute maximum (if I remember right), I don't think that's too much to ask for really. I mean.. Is it?

No, it's not too much to ask. What you did was put a lot of work into a subject to present to the ATS community. I liken it to you doing a complex, mind moving painting...then a bunch of kids having at it with cans of spray paint.

Of course, what we have left is your interesting painting, with message garbled by graffiti...I don't blame you one iota for pulling it.

I sometimes do one-liners. I try to fit my reply with the content of the thread...

Funny, I mean meant to be humorous threads, one liners can be the posts that cause me to spew whatever is in my mouth over my monitor. Other times, a one line answer is all it takes to make the most impact. Anymore would be redundant.

I'm OK with one-liners, if they are well thought out ones.

NARCISSISTIC PERSONALITY DISORDER. looks to be even across the board. My post is one line so its not good enough for you! have a rotten day!!! P.S. If my content is GOOD ENOUGH you certainly will have a big problem with my grammar punctuation or capital letters...

Isn't freedom wonderful and when all else fails LIVE AND LET LIVE. Have your rotten day

There was a time when one received an OT for posting only one line. They've lightened up, saying one-liners are okay as long as they are pertinent, but it has gotten out of hand. I see posts that have only an emo, nothing more. That's a bit too laissez faire for my liking.

Hi - websites make ad revenue based on the number of users to the site, and therefore how many click throughs the ad's get.

So if you run a website with 2000 unique visitors a day then you would charge ad companys xxx to place ads on your site, if you have a site with 2000,000,000 users then you charge the ad companies xxxxxx - so the more users there are the more you can charge for advertising space.

it's all based on the number of users and therefore the number of expected clicks to your add based on that number... your ad has to be good of course to attract people to click it....
