A Palestinian detained by Israel, Khader Adnan, has agreed to end his 66-day hunger strike as part of a deal under which he will be released without charge, sources tell Al Jazeera.

Al Jazeera's Nisreen El-Shamayleh, reporting from Adnan's hometown of Jenin in the West Bank, quoted officials as saying on Tuesday that "Adnan has informed his lawyers that he has suspended his hunger strike and agreed to the offer to serve his sentence until April 17".

This is great news! Israel has agreed to release Khader Adnan on April 17th and not renew his "administrative detention." Khader is a Palestinian that was arrested without charges on December 17th and has been chained to a hospital bed since without trial. He started a hunger strike on December 18th and has refused to eat since to help bring awareness to the injustices committed daily by Israel.

I have been fasting from dawn to dusk along with thousands of others in solidarity with him, so this news is particularly pleasing to me. I have been following this very closely and the will and determination that it must take to last 66 days without food is just astonishing and inspirational. My heart goes out to him and all others that stand up against injustices worldwide, no matter the consequences.

Free Palestine!
