Hi everybody. I was looking at some lunar orbiter images and I found this, what appears to be, a face. I'm sure its just shadow like the face on Mars is, but I thought it was cool none the less. Here is a link to the image source: wms.lroc.asu.edu...

If you want to find it yourself, use the picture I posted with the little blue rectangle in it, thats the loaction in the larger image the "face" is located.

Kind of creepy if you ask me!

Thoughts? Opinions?

Yeah, it's kinda creepy alright. Don'y know what it is but judging by the length of the shadow, it must be huge and extremely tall.

Good find if it's real! My caption for this would be "Jack Nicholson and his "Here's Johnny!" scene in The Shining."

I see two faces. one on the top of the rock which is the one i'm assuming you on about, then a minute later i noticed one on the left of it facing more towards the left and made out of the rocks on the fllor. The one on top looks kind of like and alien face and the one on the ground looks more human like. Cool find though.

Looks like a face, but I think it's interpretation like the face on Mars.

Honestly, In this photograph alone I can "matrix" two faces in that one rock formation alone... and I'm not quite sure which one you are referring to!

There is the obvious, outer-most, sneering, alien-like face which looks to the right. But also to the left of that (and adjacent to it) is the profile of a face looking to the left.

This just goes to show that we humans have an amazing (if not sometimes bothersome) ability/tendancy to find faces in almost everything.

But, lest I cast heedless doubt on your findings, OP... it could be a massive alien sculpture of a cartoon face.

I am sure like a rough diamond, unrealised in its intrinsic beauty and value, many females would like to wake up next to The Rock. He is so man that he doesn't even fit on your post!

Well I did say in the orginal post that I'm of the opinion its just shadows. I didn't even see the second face untill it was mentioned. Just thought it was something kinda fun. Thanks for the replies

Or, just people with over-active imaginations, perhaps.

What I find really interesting, if you scroll over to the right of the face, it appears that there is a boulder rolling towards the"face" from the top right corner. Coincidence??

Hey well found JJ-at least this rock looks like an actual face, unlike so many posted on ATS.
Still just a rock though IMO,but a cool looking alien face rock.

Always knew the man in the moon was real.

Just the play of light and shadows on thibgs can give some weird effects.

Here we go again with the "rocksthatlookslikeaface" syndrome...

I've mine as well:

Here's a kayak:

...and a phone:

What about some cakes?

I like flowers, don't you?

Glass trash...

And so on....

Yep. We see faces in everything, it's the way our brains work.

Three holes in a cardboard box:

I can even tell you the expression on the face, it looks surprised!

But it's just three holes in a cardboard box.

Pareidolia. Yes it's a real part of our imagination.
