"They obviously have a different body configuration than we do. And...and the little Greys; that's the most prevalent one"

Dr. Edgar Mitchell. CH 5 Florida television interview, February, 2012.

Dr. Edgar Mitchell has been busy getting his story out lately. Having been raised on the telecasts of the Moon landings, it never ceases to blow my mind when Dr. Mitchell says what he has to say about UFOs and aliens, despite what I think I know or do not know about them. Listen as he almost glistens with New Age glee when describing the 'Billions...' of civilizations that he is utterly convinced exist just out 'there'.

Why does he do this? And what are we to make of it? Is he just another performance artist? Or should we be listening to him for other than entertainment purposes?

He is an older guy , the neurons fire a little bit differently and not make quite proper connections if you know what i mean , at that age. lol

I think he has just researched it so much its taken grasp of him , turning into reality from skeptisim . Or maybe he is being discredited right now , for something he might expose later on ?

Could be many reasons , but the many doesn't care who hears , he will say what is on his mind. Tip my hat to him for that . kudos to him!

I will certainly take it for more then just entertainment purposes. For a man to walk on the moon , see the earth from another body in space , surely has something to say , the context of it we can sift through later lol. But yes for mitchell

He's a smart man and so that lends him some credibility as far as hearing him out, but he's said himself he has no DIRECT knowledge of alien/ufo existance.. he has no insider information from his time at NASA .. what he knows, he gathered the same way you and I do it . research, reading and talking to other people.

I guess what I'm saying is he doesn't know anything we don't know..

Thank you very much for that. I had heard of this foundation created by Edgar Mitchell but I had never visited their site or really ever looked in to it. Thanks twice.

It makes it easier to understand his excitement. Mitchell is a strange cat and I instinctively like him, But it really makes me wonder how he fits in to the whole panoply of the last 55 years or so.

Well said, I agree with you. That's the thing for me with Mitchell; no matter how jaded I think I might have become around all the UFO stuff, Mitchell's insistence always gets my attention.

Thanks for posting.

Yeah, you're right, miniatus, that's a really good point. It makes me want to see if I can find anyplace where he describes what might have been the turning point event for him with all of this, if there was one.

He is also wearing a bad-ass old-dude shirt in the interview.

You know I don't believe what he believes about UFOs/aliens but I see nothing wrong in anything he's said here. Is it New Age glee to say that there are billions of stars and so he THINKS there must be billions of civilizations out there? What would be a good number for that, do you think? I mean what should he have said about an unknown? He was asked his opinion. He gave it.

As for the other stuff--Roswell, etc.--we don't know how this was edited. He could very well have prefaced that with, "The thing I was told that I tend to believe is______" or "The hypothesis that makes sense to me is________." The viewer never knows what was left on the editing room floor, but he has made it clear in the past that what he believes is based on what he's read and what he's been told by friends who claim to be in the know. He has never said he has firsthand knowledge of anything alien.

So given that, I don't see that he's crossed a line here into unbelievable territory. He's just a dude who walked on the moon and believes in aliens.

Either that or everything that he saw and experienced is classified info, so all he is able to do is talk about generalities!

I feel like he is telling the truth, mostly. I don't think he would be so audible had he not "seen" the evidence or come in contact with it. He is a scientist after all, and he wouldn't make such claims without the evidence. Personally, I think he says that he has "never seen an alien" to protect his image and his family.

Honestly, he probably feels that humanity deserves to know this information.

While he may be old, he is not showing any signs of dementia or thought deterioration. Shame on everyone in this thread that claims him to be remotely "old and senile". He even states that he doesn't care that people think he is crazy- a crazy person wouldn't be able to reason in such ways.

He is nearing the end of an incredible life in a troubled world. He knows it, and has nothing to lose at this point for stating knowledge that he has collected over the years.

He obviously "knows" more, but I believe he, for whatever the reason, cannot give more details. As I said before, a scientist wouldn't make these claims without seeing the evidence first hand.

Think about how this topic is perceived by the public and/or government! He can't just list 20 names of people that have "told him so", or those people would be dog food figuratively and probably literally. Nor can he flat out say "I've seen an alien in person; I've seen a bunch" because: A) he would be thrown into Uncle Sam's mental institute for "hallucinations", and B) all of his credibility would be shot to sh!t because I doubt he has the evidence to back that statement.

Astronaut UFO sightings are very cool because they are so credible. Here is an interesting sighting I read about at NICAP.org

May 14, 1981; in space, from onboard the Soyuz T-4 spacecraft Cosmonauts Savinikh and Kovlenok observed a strange object from their space station. At first the object was 1/2 mile away but it eventually approached to a distance to 300 feet. Inside the cosmonauts saw three brown skin beings with slanted bright blue eyes. straight noses and bushy eyebrows. At a distance of 100 feet, the witnesses thought that the beings resembled mechanical robots. The beings facial expressions remained quite emotionless. The beings onboard the object requested close contact with the Soviet craft but this request was denied. Their craft shifted around erratically and from time to time it would vanish, but then reappear in an instant. Their craft seemed to be metallic, but it had no doors no solar batteries, no optical systems, no antennae and no marks or writing of any kind, it was spherical with eight windows and 16 other strange transparent illuminated spheres arranged throughout the hull. The cosmonauts also noticed quite normal looking armchairs, some devices, and walls inside the craft. Using a pair of powerful binoculars the cosmonauts saw the beings showing them what appeared to have been a star map. (HC addition # 3252, Source: Paul Stonehill, The Soviet UFO Files)

Not saying Mitchell is incorrect, but he's been out there saying this stuff for a long time. None of his conclusions are based on any of his experiences as an astronaut. It's his personal opinions based on basically the same information you or I could have.
It's just a bit disingenuous when people lead with "a US astronaut says aliens are real!". It implies he's seen them or knows secretive NASA information that the rest of us don't have. Which is untrue.
I think aliens are quite plausible, BTW.

Why would you believe this -- because it's on the Internet? Is there any evidence it was actually researched, or is it just another story out of the 'National Enquirer'?

NICAP did a good service in cataloguing all reports -- somebody's got to do it -- but I don't think they claim that the 'reports' have actually ever been investigated. Please correct me if I've misunderstood their stand on this.

Dr. Mitchell did some imaginative and bold personal experiments on ESP while aboard Apollo-14 in 1971, and published his results a few months later. Can anybody locate a copy of that full report anywhere on the Internet? I can't, and I'm wondering why. It's one particular paranormal theme that Mitchell was directly involved in. I've seen Mitchell's summary and best-spin interpretation of the results, but the actual raw data appears to be unavailable to the public -- I wonder why?

It's also bizarre that Mitchell trained for an Apollo moon mission in 1968-9 in a crew commanded by Gordon Cooper [who was later passed over for the actual flight due to sub-standard performance, and left NASA in a huff]. Now THAT'S a pair of pilots I'd have loved to have eavesdropped on during non-duty conversations!!

I highly doubt that he would be so outspoken about the issue if he didn't have personal experience, he probably just can't talk about it.

I don't doubt this is your opinion, but it's evidence for your own imagination, not for reality. How many military pilots do you really KNOW, to tell us you understand how they think?

Hi JimOberg,

Thank you for making us aware of that here on the thread.

This is the best link I can find so far...

noetic.org...

If we dig hard enough we can probably come up with a .pdf.

This might need its own thread.

X.

*Update*

Here it is...

www.scribd.com...

Gonna be hard to find a loose copy of this hangin' around. Still looking...

X again.

Seems like a pretty overt attempt at character assassination! As intelligent as you come across on many subjects, you come across equally ignorant by denying mountains of evidence on this matter.
