I never knew that. Good thing I happened to come across your post, as now I have found some new knowledge!

Oh wait, I did it wrong.. :^o

No, you did it right. You came and saw something new. You did minimal work, true; but this is only a small nugget and more wisdom then knowledge.

TextThey think they are intelligent, but they have NO WISDOM. So they spew their spoon fed education out to those of us who have experience in the real world...which does nothing but cloud up the thread

With "true" wisdom comes a bit of humility. A humble "wise" individual would never discount the opinions of ANYONE regardless their age or experience.

With "true" wisdom requires a bit of patience and acceptance for those that one perceives as being "stupid" or "ignorant".

If there would be no ignorance on ATS HOW WOULD IT EVER BE DENIED!?

Of course, this is only my 40 year old opinion.

Im gonna watch That 70's Show now because Red Forman says all I believe.

I'm posting to the thread because of my age, I'm 50.

And I am sooooooooo embarrassed to be in the age group of people who propagate such hooey. Immaturity and ignorance are ageless attributes, which is clearly indicated by your post.

You would do well to grow up yourself, and take a look around at the world, after all its our generation who is responsible for much of the mess in the world. Telling the generation that is inheriting such a mess to shut up and listen is insanity at best, and sounds more like the ranting of a bitter old cranky person.

as some of the others here have said, knowledge comes with experience. i am sure there are things that i have experienced that you can learn from and vice versa.

OP, your post reeks of: GET OFF MY LAWN!

It seems you have accumulated your opinions at an age when your understanding is at its weakest.

And just how would you enforce that age limit?Have to add your birthday when registering?Or better yet,fax a copy of your id over to ats?have to use a credit card with that to prove you are who you say??All of those options just...suck.There's plenty of young posters here who leave well thought out replies(rise against comes to mind). It's not age it's just a matter of intelligence in my book. There's ignorant people of all ages.

I agree with the under 18 part but young adults should be able to post their opinions/questions and get feedback. It's how people learn, rather by asking or someone setting them straight. It's like when a teacher calls on a slow kid to read in class...annoying to the better readers but that person is still entitled to that experience so you shut up read ahead silently and let that person get their fair share in. Besides there's some loony ''experienced'' people well out of the age group your thinking of with less than constructive comments. You were young once, I'm sure you had questions and opinions too.

OK, I'm not picking on you for your typo. I realize english might not be your first language.
However, the "they lose a hear are two" part has me a bit confused. Can you please clarify?

I believe if you are under the age of 18 you should not be allowed to post

Eurgh, the age argument has come up again. Sigh. When I joined ATS I wasn't even 18 so I wouldn't have been allowed to post here and I like to think at least a couple of my thread's have been fairly informative and interesting. What about Blackpoison as well? If there was a limit ATS wouldn't have incredible threads like this from her: India: An Aryan Conspiracy, Ancient Technology and Secret Brotherhoods, or this, one of the most flagged thread's ATS has ever seen: The Weird and Wacky World of Physics: Time, Time Control and the Government.

There's also members like Misoir who joined this website when he wasn't even 18 (as far as I'm aware) and guess what else? He's now in the top 10 of the WATS rating because of his contributions. He's perhaps the most Intelligent person I've ever come across in my life as well - Are you really saying you want to censor these people as well as myself.. not forgetting many other people all because of something they can do absolutely nothing about? Madness.

Age doesn't necessarily equate to maturity and/or Intelligence. Sorry to break it to you but It's true. There's many young people in this world who are extremely Intelligent and also very mature as there is many older people who aren't all that smart and act like 5 year olds. Asking for something like this is, in my opinion, nothing more than an expression of your own ignorance and immaturity..

ATS does not need an age limit nor should it ever be something they consider.

With all due respect but seriously, that's genuinely all you could come up with to refute my post? A lame attempt to correct what I'm saying (even though I was actually accurate) and then a rather weak attempt to patronize me presumably because I happen to be a bit younger than you, all the while completely ignoring what points I made.

Congratulations you just lost all of your credibility.

If you want to reply to me, at least come up with something decent and related to what I said - Such as the examples I posted which show an age limit to be a dreadful idea for example as it would censor great people who happen to be young but who also teach others a great deal. Admittedly though, your reply does say a lot.. but it says a great deal more about you than it does me. Patronizing is little more than a weak attempt to discredit when you can't come up with something genuinely Intelligent to say.

young people are the ones that make forward movement. old people do things like make weed illegal and send you to war for political agendas before you are even old enough to have a beer. they also vote for things like bank bailouts and build fema camps. lets not forget the internet war right now.. is it not old against young? young people want to share data. old people want to stop them.

young people do things like loose change, and zeitgeist and even younger people network the data

i have a friend that lives in a "dry town" when will that change ? when the 100 year old town council dies and some young people move in.

we are the youth gone wild

As Carl Jung once put it, knowledge that comes through life experience, is far greater then any textbook could ever teach you. You seem to condone younger age, and feel superior than I. Well that is your right, and I will not use my right to end this meaningless thread of yours.

Think with your heart and not your "smarts"

Peace and out

I agree, however with age come the chances for more situations that add to the experience.
Which causes the correlation between age and wisdom.

Not necessarily. The key word in that first sentence was "chance". Just because you have chances doesn't mean you take them. But if you're of the right frame of mind you can see THAT as an experience as well.

You can have kids who, for whatever reason, had to be on their own from an early age, say 13, who are going to have far more life experiences by the time they're 30 than someone who lived a very shelterd life with their parents by the time they're 30.

It's not the age that makes a person it's their experiences coupled with what they learned from those experiences. Here's a good example:

His voice and guitar work wouldn't tell you he was 17 when he cut that record.

Some people are beyond their years while some people just never learn. Age means nothing.

As far as "ignorant" people posting on here, I'm all for it.

I have my days when I have to get my anger out somehow, so what better target than some youngster who doesn't even see it coming?

I'm sorry did I read your OP right? Did I just see you also categorise anyone under THIRTY as having to be monitored?

A lot of people have children in their 20's and with that parenting comes opinions on the world around, to even suggest that someone a) old enough to be sent to fight, b) old enough to have finished HS, 3) Old enough to live on their own and drink, 4) old enough to settle into a family life isn't an adult and should be monitored like a child is absurd.

I'm slowly climbing my way through my 40's now, but I certainly don't think my opinions at all times are better than someone in their late 20's early 20's.... I've learned a lot from that age group.

Honestly... sorry but it doesn't fly with me, it's arbitrarily lumping people into a group and making sweeping generalizations.

I am against censorship of any kind. Young people have as much to contribute as anyone. Sometimes I find their viewpoints to be superior to what the older people have to say. Rising Against and Blackpoision are excellent contributors to this site. They show a great deal of maturity and intelligence. They are also not alone in that, there are others. The young people here can provide us with a different viewpoint that is just as valuable as the viewpoint we old codgers have. I'm pushing 60 a bit too hard these days and I for one appreciate the different perspective that they provide.
