In my opinion music today is a lot of noise. There are some very good singers out there but not to many real artists. I want us to share with the younger generation what real music is. I listen to alot of different music but what some might consider oldies.

Its bad enough that many people dont even realize that what they are listening to is a remake, or a track taken from a very good song, and hacked up to be a beat on a senseless song.

So share what you think the younger generation is missing. For those eclectic types share one of each.

It could be a mix of any genre, love, metal, r&b, country, folk, even old school rap.

Here is my "recommended" artists and songs.

Prince- Adore

Chaka Khan- Sweet Thing

Wings/Paul McCartney - Maybe I'm Amazed

James Taylor - "Fire & Rain"

Metallica - Nothing Else Matters

Metallica - One

The Choice Is Yours - Black Sheep

Slick Rick & Doug E Fresh Tribute - La Di Da Di

Looking forward to more....

Peace, NRE.

Boy, that couldn't BE any more likely to start a flame war.

You're going out of your way to rile people up.

That's actually a stroke of genius though, because now younger people will post new music that they think highly of, and maybe it's you who will learn something as well.

That was the point. My opinion is that the music I hear is not as good as most thats out there, but this will also give me a reason to listen to something that I might enjoy as well

Sharing, now thats the way to go!

Peace, NRE.

I disagree with your statement about me not knowing good music. Try this one if you like.

Hey there I am glad you raised such a relevant question and I totally agree with you.

The young generations are seriously dim witted when it comes to "palatable" vibrations for your ears. The irony of it all is I am part of the younger generation and I sometimes feel I am stuck in a superficial world of repetitive vomit inducing "one night" hits with basic instrumentals/ electronic beats and feeble, mindless lyrics. Seems the majority of youth are more interested in grinding up one another with easy to follow tunes with no intention of finding any meaning or personal interpretations.

Luckily I was raised by a father with taste in real music and audiophile quality sound so consider myself as a rouge musical enthusiast although my tastes could be seen as weird by the older folk. Being introduced to great bands like Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Roxy Music, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Jeff Beck, Queen,Led Zeppelin, The beatles, and the list goes on I have developed quite a unique taste in music.

I will mention some "new school" bands that are under the radar of the mainstream braincell destroying crowds that you might like.

The Cat Empire, album Two shoes ( ska and jazz)

Nightwish album Dark Passion Play, try the poet and the pendulum ( epic metal)

Muse album black holes and revelations (alternative rock)

Alterbridge album Blackbird (alternative rock)

Lark album Razbliuto ( electronica)

Fleshgod Apocalypse album agony ( brutal technical death metal classica)

Deftones album diamond eyes (alternative metal)

A Perfect Circle album thirteen steps (alternative rock super group)

Hope you enjoy some of these bands and keep your love for music young and passionate as it is the closest thing to heaven one can experience on earth realm.

I just have to say, if you're going to judge the music other people like to listen to, be prepared for some backlash on your specific tastes. I personally think the songs you say are "good music" suck. I'm not disagreeing completely about a lot of the songs now being "noise," I do however think there is plenty of great music being made today that many people don't even give a chance. I think your entire post was about as pointless as can be, and all you were trying to do is get people to argue with you about whether or not your opinion of music is correct. Enjoy the music you like, and leave your opinions out of it.

You "see" "good" singers everyday.
The problem is everyone can sing good, this is a fact.
The problem is most do not realize this and never project their singing. (put wind behind it)
Now great singers are few and generally never make the big time mostly because they are not marketable.
There are some ok examples in the OP but there are also some absolute nonos especially when it comes to "singing".
Now, "You Don't Know Good Music! Hear Listen To This"! is what all advertisers say.
How about I listen to what I think sounds good, and you do the same.

For those of you who took this personal, oh well. I clearly said that it was my opinion, AND I was looking forward to hearing others songs, just in case I missed something, and would have a chance to hear what others like.

The title is what it is to get those that had passion for certain songs to share them, so I can give a listen.

NRE.

Dude, I'm sorry but all your music totally sucks. Only the music I like is good, with my own band being the best. All other bands are noise.

It's kind of expected that music is not going to get better. There is only so much you can do with 7 notes, and it's all been done already. It was far much easier to have an original idea in the 60's than it is now.

What you would call good music would have to be a rehash of what you already like, what has been done before already many times. But that would not be artistic, so new artists have to find new ways to express themselves, and it has to be different in some way. But as I said different is not easy, in fact as a musician of 30+ years it is one of the most difficult things there is. Try writing an original melody for starters.

Also you will find even the music you linked to was not original at the time, almost every song recorded can be traced to it's influence, some more obvious than others.

This is a new band I kinda like, but they're not really very original, their whole sound and image is 60's Mod based, like Oasis and Stone Roses....

They can try but hell, despite being in my 20s, I'll agree that today's mainstream and non-metal is just pure talentless noise (grime, dubstep, indie rock) or bland and exactly the same as everything else (Adele, Rihanna, indie rock again lol).

This isn't really current but since we're sharing...

Damon Albarn is just a musical genius and went on to create the band "Gorillaz" after Blur had ran its course. There is still good music around if you feel like digging and opening up your mind and ears a little bit.

^ This!
Just saw them live a few weeks ago. To me personally, music doesn't get any better than that.
