I did a search for the headline I posted as the thread title and nothing pertaining to this instance came up, though others from the past had. Hopefully this is in the correct forum.

‘HALF SHEEP, HALF HUMAN’: LOCALS CLAIM BABY MUTANT BORN IN NIGERIA

I came across this story earlier today. It really sets me aghast when I see the complete ignorance of some of these people.

Reports of a “half sheep, half human” creature born to an adult sheep in the town of Sokoto, Nigeria, have locals claiming witchcraft or beastiality was at work while more reasonable answers like birth complications have come from officials.

Garba Aminu, a commercial motorcycle rider, averred: “This is an abomination in our land. To see a sheep give birth to a half human being is a mystery and that shows how terrible some people are. It is unimaginable that some people will be having intercourse with animals.”

These people actually believe that humans and sheep can procreate! The utter ignorance of some of these countries is absolutely flabbergasting!

Thank God that there are some sane people in these countries.

But Dr. Ismail Usman with the Veterinary Clinic in the state Ministry of Forestry and Animal Health put rumors to rest, lamenting the fact that such a fantastical idea would even be discussed: “It was a surprise that people’s perspective could be so negative when it comes to scientific reasoning and thoughts. In fact, the meaning attached to the development on the pregnant sheep by the onlookers was embarrassing.” Dr. Usman stated. He explained that the sheep was supposed to have been delivered two days earlier but could not, a situation that he described as unusual among animals, especially sheep.

There seems to be quite a few of these incidences happening over the last few years in many Eastern countries. Any thoughts as to what may be causing this? I for one am not counting on bestiality...Perhaps pollution in the water or land.

This is a population that still holds a wide-spread belief that raping a little girl will cure AIDS. I'm not at all surprised.

I haven't heard that one. Though I have read of the populace raping albino's for the same effect.

Sheeple.

Sorry had to say it. I'm blind maybe but I don't see the human part.

Another one of these... which is REALLY a classic case of a congenial defect, namely hydrocephalus. Half human---insert animal or being--- ..."snake" "cow" "bug" "alien"... There's no human breeding here. Yeah, it's true they don't know any better to assume such. There's But maybe somehow they denying of ignorance can spread. Congenial deformities do not mean half human anything.

A Source.

wait up.

so you laugh this off because of the following: Some governmental dude from the land of Corruptness comes out and says the entire thing is ridiculous and he wont' even discuss it. Then he follows it up with this:

>"He explained that the sheep was supposed to have been delivered two days earlier but could not, a situation that he described as unusual among animals, especially sheep."

Hmmm... that's kinda ambiguous.

I'm not saying that this happened for sure. I'm saying there is some weird ass # out there; especially in Africa.

I'd say it's a mutant sheep.

I remember this image from somewhere, look at that face, hilarious

Anyone else notice how political the comments are on the link?

It looks like a stillborn sheep whose body has started to deteriorate. The blackened flesh is necrotic (dead) tissue and the bloated flesh also signifies decay. I would be surprised if the mother lived after this birth.

I agree whole heartedly. Im wondering if perhaps the photo may actually be from the necropsy of the afflicted animal.

This is probably the case, and would make the most sense.

It definitely looks like the fetus was dead for several weeks (over a month, even) before the mother gave birth, which would account for her difficulty delivering.

ETA: As to the cause: if it is actually happening more frequently (as opposed to just being reported more frequently), then it is probably environmental. Increased toxins in the food sources, resulting in mutated genetics for the offspring.

This reminds me of those inside-out human babies that keep being born in Islamic countries. THEY LOOK FREAKY!!!!! They never usually live that long but there was a case of the same kind in England where a girl had the condition (forgot what it's called) and was able to live to her teens, she might even still be alive. She basically had to cover her body in lotion and wraps every day to soften the skin (it's almost like a bugs exoskeleton) and to keep her body from being dehydrated because most of these inside out babies die in weeks because they have an unquenchable thirst because thier bodily fluids constanty leak out and evaporate.

I personally believe it happens in the middle east countries so much and hardly ever in western countries because of how much in-breeding goes on over there...

Disgusting. I did not know sheep could be born with [SNIP]. (i snipped the human condition i named because i do not want to offend anyone who may have or know a child with said condition). Only one man can prevent sheep from being born with [SNIP]. Vote Ron Paul 2012!!
