OH yeah. Most of the times, be it downtime while in country or having some drinks at the bar, the subject of just leaving it all alone to deal with themselves was often a hot point. I got tired of always been prepared to go only to find out orders shift and we're pushed back. Or just the fact that no matter what MOS you had, someone always had to bring up something about being in Iraq/Afghanistan and being under fire or something. I'm just ready for our country to finally grow a brain instead of flexing their...wallet. I'm tired of having to care about those people. Not trying to say I don't care about my fellow humans, but having to tip toe around them to weed out those who actually want to kill me.

It's just become such a cluster****. And it's a crappy job to have, but somebody has to and will do it. I joined because I believe in what the military actually stands for and not what everyone else thinks they stand for. They stand for protection, honor, duty, discipline, and most importantly, freedom. Right now, most people would say we stand for murder and occupation and being a government pawn. But once an enemy comes knocking on their door, what will they be saying?

The crap in the Middle East is not what I joined for and not what I stand for. People should give us credit for the good we do instead of just focusing on the evils committed. Not saying turn a blind eye to them, but understand that just because we're affiliated, it doesn't mean that we're one in the same with those people.

I might disagree with what they say (the anti-military) but my brothers and sisters and I in arms will defend to the death their right to call us all the names they want, while they sit at home and get the war sanitized and sensationalized for them on their favorite news source.

I served my country, USMC 69-75, never got a damn support from the long haired, cowards back in the states when I was serving, and none from the government that sent me there either. as to this post, I did not see the photo, I really don't care what it was especially if it was overseas in a combat zone, none of the people wearing civilian clothes has a clue what it's like to be in the field under fire. people do stupid things to release the stress, keeps them from blowing someones fxxxxking head off, or their own off when they come back in from the field. Big deal. But the original poster is right, a lot of yellow backs here on ATS that constantly bad mouth the military, I just figure they are trying to make up for the backbone they don't have, I seen them call people mindless puppets, it's apparent they have never had and will never have a back bone and that's ok. I will tell them all now they can call me names, I don't mind, it's not as bad as being spit on when you come home.

From one Corporal to another, SEMPER FI. I highly commend those who were in Vietnam as it was a worse situation than we have been in. That jungle must have been hell on earth.

Way to twist my words, dude.

From 2006-2011, I have done the following:

Provided support to the Philippines, Haiti, and Burma during a natural disaster, which meant providing them with food, water, and medical attention.
Helped build schools and churches in the Philippines.
Helped in medical clinics set up by the US to give aid to those who are unable to receive proper care from their own country in Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Cambodia.
I've spent time with children from 8 different countries giving them food, water, candy, and small trinkets of "rememberance". I still communicate with people I have influenced in these countries. I still talk to kids and adults that still say the day they spent with me and my fellow Marines and Sailors is the best day in their life.
I was the among the first to volunteer for community relation missions in every country I set foot in.

What have you done to help the less fortunate? What have you done for those that we are "senselessly murdering"? I bet I can guess. Nothing. I will wager that you've done nothing productive to help them while you sit behind your computer pointing the finger of blame and spewing senseless hate.

I'm waiting in anticipation how you'll twist my words now.

Each individual is responsible for their own actions. You can't blame it on the people who ordered you to do it, because you allowed yourself to be used like a tool. Perhaps if there weren't so many dumb morons offering up their 'services' to sick war mongers they wouldn't be able to fight their wars huh? Think about that one for a while mate.

and if we didnt have the people offering up their 'services' our nation would be left with no defense. like i said before, if things were the other way around and the u.s. was actually under a threat than im sure more people would be happy they have military men and women.

Look at what I posted above you. That's what I offered my 'services' for. To help people. And that's what I did. A majority of the military does a lot of good and helps a lot of unfortunate people. But it's never seen by people because it's not considered "news". Nobody cares how much good we do, they just want to focus on the bad because it gives them a chance to voice their blind hatred.

Yes there are bad apples in every area.

The problem is that most bad apples within a group dont have big guns and a lot of ammo.

It's just hard on a soldier to take it at home from the people he feel he/she is defending, (no matter how those people at home take it or feel about it), The soldier is following orders, period that is the job they have to do. they can not throw down the gun and walk away, it does not work like that. It is the life they chose, (and they chose it) so they must see it through for better or worse, they can not control the thieving crooks on the white house, and they really do get a kick out of a few cheers from the home front.

in 69, we had wonder traitors like Jane Fonda and John Kerry spewing their crap in our ears while we were fighting for our lives, and half the time we were scrounging for bullets and weapons that congress refused to give us since the war they wanted became so unpopular. Oh, and every where we went we found message walls like this one;



so it really does hurt when people here trash talk people that are serving this country, I know it hurt me greatly and still does to this day. It made me resentful and hard and after Vietnam things should not have had to be that way, a little bit of support goes a long way, and if you can't support what they are doing, why comment? what purpose does it serve other than to boost your own ego in some meaningless way.
