I really don't post often but this one is a little strange.

First, yesterday an 85 pound dog falls through the ice when chasing a coyote and gets rescued by a local emergency crew:

www.9news.com...

The local channel invites the owner, the dog and the rescuing officer in for an interview. One of the anchors decides this is a sweet dog, gets down on the floor with the dog, in the dogs' face and gets bitten:

Now they've issued a citation to the dog owner and are holding the dog for 10 days for observation.

Not a good week for this poor dog, his owner or the anchor for that matter. I'm a "dog person" so probably have some bias but I suspect the poor dog was still somewhat traumatized, in a strange environment and the anchor got too friendly deserving a fair portion of responsibility for this event.

What really stinks is I was actually watching this interview and had to leave to get ready for work and missed the bite, didn't actually find out about it until this evening. Of course they won't replay that portion of the interview as it's too graphic. What does it say about me that I'm disappointed I missed it?

Next time the anchor won't get in the dogs face. Moron. When the dog wants to be left alone, leave it alone. You push and they are going to push back. Anchor deserved to get bit if you ask me. Least the dog knows who to trust and it's definitely not the anchor.
Funny how he didn't bite the Fireman who rescued him.

People are stupid and don't know how to behave with animals.
If anything, the dog should be praised for having natural animal instincts. The bite was just a warning anyway.

It reminds me of the time I was at a party at a friend's house. They had cats inside, and this one girl picked up the one cat, surprising it. She didn't have a hold of the cat, so it got scared and twisted around and tried to hold on to her arm to prevent itself from falling. She dropped it and told her dad, who started talking about how it should be shot because it might have rabies since it scratched her.

Anchor must be a reptile. Dogs can sense reptiles a mile away.

I really think the dog just nipped her lip, I like to see the damage of the lip. That she needs reconstructive surgery on. I swear their making it sound like this dog is Cujo.

Least they could of done, was waited a week before interviewing the dog. He already went through one traumatized event so now were going traumatize him even more, by putting spotlights on him.

Yeah, way to go people.

The dog just nipped her, it's not like he even attempted to rip her face off.
Stupid woman should realise getting your strange face in a dogs whilst baring your teeth is idiotic.

Stupid woman, that's what she gets for putting her face in front his. He didn't bite the fireman after he bit her, and wow, talk about just a nip. Couple of days it will heal. Their all acting like she needs a facelift or something. Give me a break.

Indeed. As an owner of a pretty fierce dog myself I come to the conclusion that the dog only warns her off. She was undermining the personal space of the dog. The dog was actually pretty tolerant with all the touching because it is trained well. Next the presenter wants some kisses and the dog communicates to back fudge up.

This anchor is stupid then again that doesn't surprise me esp after hearing an HLN anchor be surprised they had Palm Trees in Palm Springs, California.....

WHO gets in the face of a dog they do not know?

You can't go up to animals thinking they are cute and cuddley. Just because they may look it doesn't mean they are.

I hope she has learned her lesson and is ok.
