Haven't read through the thread but in south Tacoma (midland), we haven't heard or felt anything unusual.
Also the cat is acting normal.

That's somewhat correct. It was not at all continuous, but it sounded more like individual explosions. My emphasis was more on the fact that i could feel what i heard, and that really freaked me out. I would also like to note that I have just been feeling some unusual energy around my house lately. Even my dogs both seem to be acting strangely. This is all very bizarre and unsettling.

It felt like to me the shock wave came from below. And the whole situation struck me as something more manual and mechanical and much less of the space side of things. This, however, was not a force of nature.

The EXACT time i am unsure of, but i know that it took some place shorty after 10:00pm. I would say 10:10pm is about the time it took place. and YES it sounded just like the sound before an earthquake hits, i was honestly bracing my self for an earthquake, but it never happened. Just the small initial shake. That's where i pick up the term suppressed explosion. The sound it gave off and the feelings i were experiencing INSTANTLY said earthquake, but it never happened.

Thanks for the reply and clarification. All the detail helps in figuring this out. There is that detail again that seems to run common to so many, too. The 'felt' as much as heard. So many describe that same thing and it's the kind of power and energy that no hoaxer could ever match. Whatever is causing this is immense for energy in whatever form it's in from sound to radio or whatever.

I wonder...If one had to guess, it almost seems as though the noise is becoming more defined over time, if that makes sense? I still haven't heard or felt this in Southern Missouri here, but the reports seem to indicate that. Maybe not...but it's something to watch going into the future. If the sounds further clarify in tones and sharpness, it might rule out more possibilities. Hmmm

I've been looking at these sound threads and I'm not sure what to think . I live in Burien/ south park area I hear airplanes flying over all day so I'm kind of tooned to ignore them or all sound from above. But this last Sunday at around noon I heard what sounded like a compression type sound that made me get up and look out my window I could see every direction from where I was and could see nothing in the sky but I could tell the sound was above me. Its hard to explain it but it sounded like what I would imagine a machine gun being shot out of a helicopter would sound like mixed with a jack hammer but the tone was off kind of like a under water explosion. I heard it over the airplanes. I was actually trying to listen to where it was coming from when a plane flew by. Since then I been thinking about what it was. I've looked on the news and searched the web trying to find out if anyone heard it and found nothing. Maybe I'm crazy I don't know but if anyone else heard what I did please tell me I'm not crazy.

I was just looking at the USGS and noticed this......

USGS Seismic Displays

Those who can get over there in the next few hours will see what I mean, but something was recorded world wide on those. Perhaps a sound from it? It even shows a clear segment, drop, then lower intensity segment. Maybe I'm just too tired...but I thought I would share it. I saved the whole site as it sits as a PDF too for future reference, but it's an interesting thing to see. Maybe someone else can do a better hjob of a capture to post one of the stations, since they all show it. The whole planet's worth.

You're seeing the 5.6 quake that hit at 12:01 UTC. (the largest on on the display right now that is showing on most of the seismos)

I'll look into this more tomorrow. I can't find anything else local on the seismos, other than the small one near vancouver at about 9:58 pm. We shouldn't have heard that though...way too small. Perhaps it was recording something else? I dunno.....

Hi westcoast.
I looked at arrival times for your location for the largest earthquakes worldwide around 10:10pm Pacific time (06:10:00 UTC on 9 Feb 2012)
The Solomon Islands Mag 5.3 had a P-wave arrival time of 06:11:54 UTC. Close time wise, but I'm not sure that magnitude would be large enough to hear, unless it was amplified by atmospheric conditions possibly?
According to the Wiki--seismic wave, P-waves:

In air, they take the form of sound waves

The S-wave arrived at 06:22:41, Love at 06:37:06 and Rayleigh at 06:41:17 (these last 2 were after you posted, so they are out).

You also had the surface waves from the Mag 5.1 Indonesia EQ roll in at 05:53:05 (Love) & 00:57:54 UTC (Rayleigh). And lastly, the surface waves from the Mag 5.0 Vanuatu arrived at 05:56:12 (Love) & 06:00:19 UTC (Rayleigh).

All of the above arrival times were calculated using the USGS travel time calculator and the Lat, Lon of Sedro-Wooley.

I don't know. Maybe one of these above waves, coupled with the small Canadian quake, allows for what you experienced?

Oh yeah, here are a couple of seismos not far from you. They show something, but I'm not sure what.

Might it be this event?
Its showing as a 2.1 with a dept of 6.50 km. (4.04 miles)

Regardless of what it "is", that seams like it was a very scary thing to hear. Please keep a recording device handy as I for one would love to hear it.

I thought it could be too but that event took place feb. 9th.
the post took place the night of the 8th.

The next time anyone hears this rumbling sound, please, please go outside and look up. Preferably with a camcorder, you might be shocked at what you see.....

Maybe it's Solar Flares or some kind of Space Radiation....

I have heard the rumblings too. I am at elevation just East of Bellevue.

At first i thought it was just the lady upstairs watching a surround movie but when i turned everything off i heard her dog barking and he only does that when she is gone. Have window air conditioners and could hear it through the accordion flaps.

Google earth on sat. Look up "Dream lake" It would be interesting to know if that crack is changing over time. Its one of the secrets they never talk about like Mt Rainier becoming unstable.

I was prospecting just south of Dream lake in the valley when i heard the trumpets/rumbling sound a couple months ago. The ranger there wont say a word. Clams right up. I highly doubt the trumpet sound came from Dream but the rumbling is very possible. The micro climates can block sound except when the winds meet from north and south and hold over the lakes region. Then it can come through.

In NW OR. Heard nothing. Was going to bed around that time.

Hope it has nothing to do with the cascadia fault line.

It's happening all over the world and no one knows what it is. I have read about it a lot on the internet but no news station has covered it yet that I know of. Would be nice if a news station would try to investigate it. And Scientists, no one is talking either. So very weird.

It won't happen until someone calls and not only identifies the source, but allows media to record the sound.

Either that, or the Elites are forcing media sources to stay mum about the whole deal.

In any case, I don't think CNN or NBC will be doing a special this week on the matter.

There was a massive M-Class Solar Flare at the exact date and time that you heard the rumbling noise

The next time you hear a sound like that,
I suggest you go hide in the basement and put up boxes all around you, to shield yourself from the radiation

The rumbling noise abruptly cut off, restarted and then cut off again? Did I get the sequence and the fact the transitions from noise to silence was abrupt, correct? That is something a bit new and if this is related to the others then I'd say it rules a few things out. I can't see where naturally produced noise from geologic events would have sudden drop and restart points. Something mechanical might though....or something generated from Space.

Hmm.. The way this is all developing over time is as interesting as the base phenomenon itself.

I'm down in Texas and the noise we heard back in Sept 2011 was like that. It started and stopped, started and stopped ... in all I think it was 5 times. It was coming from the sky and from all directions. Late at night and it's very quite here with the exception of a few cars. We live in the country. The sound we heard sounded like the Kiev & Canada video (with the workers in the forest).
I know a lot of people think those videos are fake but since we heard the same noise I disagree. There is nothing around here that could make that sound. There is a Dam here BUT in all the years we have lived here that Dam has never made a noise like that so I discount that as a possible source. We swim in that area and when they are going to open the gates they sound a siren. It's not the siren either, I know what that sounds like and it can't be heard here at our home which is 3 miles away.

If I ever hear it again I hope to have my camera handy because it has video.

That would only be possible if the magnetic field was collapsing. Or we had
a very large hole torn in it just above us.

Also doesnt it take a minimum of 14hrs for energy waves to travel that distance and usually like 18-36 hrs? That would put the origin back a day or two.

How long does it take for radiation from the sun to reach earth?
Earth is about 150 million km from the sun. The radiation from the sun travels at 300,000 km/s. How long does it take for the radiation from the sun to reach earth?
Thanks for all yur answers!

150M /300K is 500. So 500 seconds or about 8 minutes and 20 seconds.
However the distance between the earth and the sun are not constant and it really depends on our position in the elliptical orbit.

That would mean it was X-rays or other waves rather than plasma striking the magnetosphere.

Interesting. Thanks.
