Before reading this information.....check out this article here (which is the reason i've created this thread in the first place):

GOP targets child tax breaks for illegals

Do Illegal Immigrants Pay Taxes?

They generally pay taxes the same way you and I pay them, but without access to most of the benefits that normally come with being a taxpayer.

Income Tax:

Every time you receive a paycheck, you probably notice that something is missing. That’s because your employer automatically withholds federal, state, and local income taxes and Social Security and Medicare taxes. Immigrants also have money automatically deducted directly from their paychecks —even those who are here illegally. But how? Well, the Social Security Administration estimates that 75% of undocumented immigrants are actually on formal payrolls and are paid by check just like anyone else. They get on the payroll by using fake or fraudulent social security numbers or social security numbers of the deceased, which are easily available from counterfeiters for a couple hundred dollars. A growing number of undocumented immigrants now file their income taxes using Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs). ITINs are issued by the IRS for filing purposes only and do not provide permission to work.

Possible instances of overpayment

Illegal immigrants pay into Social Security via automatic payroll deductions, but they can never claim Social Security benefits because they are here illegally and because their Social Security numbers are fake.

It’s estimated that undocumented immigrants pay about $7 billion per year in Social Security taxes that they will never be able to reclaim.

Most Americans get tax refunds at the end of the year. Illegal immigrants don’t get refunds unless they file, which many don’t do because they fear deportation (although increasing numbers are using ITINs to file).

When a refund is owed but not paid out, this is free money for the government.

And according to the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center, about half of Americans are ultimately exempt from paying income tax due to low income levels and as a result of deductions and credits. Many low-income taxpayers pay marginal amounts if they do have to pay. As a result of their low income levels, most illegal immigrants would naturally fall into either of these categories. But because many do not file out of fear of being deported, they are never refunded money that was automatically withheld from their paychecks.

Are illegal immigrants a net drain on the system?

Although certain news programs and partisan research institutes would like you to believe otherwise, there is no simple answer to this question. At the federal level, it appears that undocumented immigrants pay in slightly more than they take out. Figures vary greatly at the state and local levels. Areas with higher concentrations of undocumented immigrants, for example, spend more educating and providing emergency healthcare to undocumented immigrants than areas with lower concentrations.

But this is not because undocumented immigrants are out to evade taxes and milk the system —as we learned above, most pay sales, property, and income taxes automatically and are ineligible for the vast majority of social services. Rather, the reason undocumented immigrants may take out more than they contribute has mostly to do with their status as low wage earners.

Even if they use the same amount of public services as wealthier households, low-income households (be they made up of citizens or immigrants) are generally a net drain on public finances because our progressive system requires them to pay less income tax and by virtue of having less purchasing power, they pay less sales and property tax.

roygermano.wordpress.com...

Wanted to share this article. I was always under the impression that illegal immigrants didn't pay into the system at all....but apparently many do. The reason i am posting this, currently the GOP is looking to end child tax credits for illegals.....which i didn't even think was possible (which is what made me look up this info).

I'm not going to take a side on this issue....but thought this is information everyone should know.

To me the fact they pay taxes is irrelevant, Still illegal. My mom pays the same taxes as everyone else and she isn't a citizen.

No they don't, in Australia they get free healthcare, free education, live in luxury villas with internet and pools while real Australians are battling to pay the rent. Send them back.

There's a right way to pay taxes and come into this country and there's a wrong way. Stealing someone else s identity because you bypassed the system currently set up (no mater how flawed) is not the right way.

No offense, but I am friends with many illegals. No one parties like the Latinos... love 'em.

But you are assuming they even get a paycheck... which 4/5 of my friends DON'T.

They all work for the same insulation company I used to work for, and every Friday I saw them get paid in cash while I got a fancy piece of paper with "money" missing from it.

Again, this entire article assumes they even have a Tax ID Number, which they don't... and assumes that most of them get a paycheck... which they don't.

Just to reiterate... love my friends. I don't knock the immigrants, just their status.

95% of statistics are made up on the spot. I do not believe the 75% number. The only way you can believe this is if you have never worked in the south west.

No offense but you are a traitor to your own country and a disgrace to the citizens who live there legally

It is your responsibility to call immigration to have them investigated if you notice why they are called the word illegals. Sadly most people like yourself want illegals to be legal and give a rats ass about country citizenship.so by that statement I guess every country should open its borders to free citizenship woohoo. Its a party right.

Hey I like Latinos to.......as long as they are legal.

I worked for the company for 7 months and called the INS twice.

The owner finally fired me for continually asking questions and assuming I was the one that called the state on him.

He refused to pay me for my two weeks work, and I had $0 to my name to pay for rent that week, let alone gas to find another job...

The white owners that fired me and stole money out of my pocket? Didn't care less...

The Mexicans I was so gung-ho on getting in trouble? Pooled $20 from everyone living there to give me a couple hundred bucks to pay my rent and get some gas and food.

Yes, I still hang out and party with my Mexican friends. Some of them are downright excellent people... and the government doesn't exactly make it easy to become legal. I have one friend who has been waiting 6 years...

Again, I DO NOT SUPPORT ILLEGALS.

I said that in my last post. But that doesn't mean I have to show up with an AR-15 and start marching them back to the border. That's supposed to be my government's job... blame them.

Ultimately, the immigration issue cannot be resolved until the borders are secured. That is a given...doing anything else beforehand would be pointless.

However, once that is done, I don't believe that you can deport over 10 million people (who knows what the real number is). It's inhumane....that's not a good representation of what this country is supposed to be and stand for. Ultimately amnesty will have to be granted, and these people all have to be put into the system as taxpayers and legal citizens.

If I lived in Mexico, my ass would be trying to get the USA too. You can't blame them for that....and I'll bet nearly every person here would do the same if they were in that position.

My two cents....and quite frankly a very unpopular 2 cents I'm sure.

Shipping someone back to their country is inhumane?

What our country stands for? So I guess breaking the law and getting away with it is what our country is suppose to stand for?

Were not suppose to stand up for justice and the rule of law?

Jesus , the way you people think sometimes just blows my mind.....

I guess we only want "justice" whenever it agrees with our ideals right?

steal my stuff, go to jail, kill someone i love, go to prison, break into my house, go to jail...........

Oh but wait, break into my country and be a drain on us having to keep you up (stealing money) and its A-OK, we dont have to obey that law......

Again..........i guess now days we just pick and choose what laws we want to follow, these poor poor illegals stealing peoples identities, and getting paid under the table, meanwhile we pay for their housing, healthcare etc.....etc......sorry but I dont think so

Giving over 10 Million Illegals amnesty is a mistake. If you do that, you'll just encourage more people to come here illegally no mater how well you think you've secured the boarder. Amnesty will only make our current situation worse as shown by what happened with past illegal immigration numbers after an amnesty was given out.

Shipping someone back to their country is not inhumane....shipping millions and millions of people to a poor, violence ridden country where tens of thousands have been murdered by drug gangs is inhumane...no matter how you slice it. It's much of the reason many are here in the first place...to escape it.

Would you do the same?

How many people died in our country during the Revolution or during the Civil War to change the direction of the ruling govt? If its so bad over there why don't they fix it themselves instead of coming here? Is it bad in Mexico? Heck yes it is, but ask yourself if its that dang bad why don't they fix it like we did with England instead of ignoring the problem?

With so many anti illegal bills coming up and new laws in certain states, many have self deported. If you took away all the freebies and incentives, they would self deport.

It is NOT just the poor people coming here. It is NOT just the crime ridden areas they are coming from. I have known many illegals and not a single one of them came from those situations. They say that here they get so much more for free. Here our money is worth more so they save up and return to their own countries living high on the hog. They laugh and say that America is stupid. I mean, talk about ungrateful!

I don't believe the OP information is entirely accurate. I have seen how illegals fill out their W-4 forms for work -- they claim 8 exemptions so they pay very little income tax. It is true that they pay social security taxes also but some illegal aliens also qualify for social security benefits. See this article:

www.foxnews.com...

Illegal aliens can also receive welfare or food stamps in many states. Since these illegal aliens often go under false names, it is possible for them to register with the local welfare offices under several different names, thus receiving multiple welfare checks.
