Democrats to continue Internet coup with new cyber bill

dailycaller.com

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, following a recent anti-piracy legislative debacle with SOPA and PIPA, will lead his second effort of 2012 to push Internet-regulating legislation, this time in the form of a new cybersecurity bill. The expected bill is the latest attempt by the Democrats to broadly expand the authority of executive branch agencies over the Internet.

Details about the bill remain shrouded in secrecy.

I have always said Governments want to control mankind. This is why Progressives that are Democrat and Republican don't like the Constitution. The Constitution ties the hand of Government but that has been eroded over the years.

With the Internet there's just too much freedom. Governments can't stand it and they will think of every excuse to control it. It will be under the guise of cyber security. If they can't pass it, I wouldn't be surprised if they stage a terrorist attack and it's traced to the internet.

They will then pass these measures that will give Government complete control over the Internet because they're "Patriotic" and they're protecting America.

The very worst thing that TPTB could do, is screw with the internet.

Everything on this planet is now digitized, and if TPTB want to see how fast it can burn to the ground... piss off the internet and watch.

There are people out there playing neutral that are just sitting back and watching.

If you think DDoS attacks are bad, just wait until they start pissing off the big boys.

And on that note, they can control "their" internet all they want. There is more than one net. Internet freedom will never be destroyed...

I wonder why when the government does something negative, it's always just the Democrats blamed?

Republicans have been front and center in the push for internet censorship, something the source OP seems oblivious too. SOPA was authored by Lamar Smith a Texas republican. Maybe your article source could have recognized that little fact instead of turning this into a partisan issue. Article should have read "Democrats and Republicans continue Internet coup..."

Harry Reid, the guy who stole the election back in 2010?

His son ran the voting machines. Angle was winning... then boom, somehow power goes down... and when it comes back up, Reid is winning.

I mean COME ON.

Reid is a slimy piece of garbage and should be kicked out and put in jail RIGHT NOW.

This bill should be stopped and whoever votes for it kicked out.

Where's the stinking FBI when you need them?

Don't be fooled, there is only “bipartisan” in the eyes of the public. It is made to appear as opposing to keep you foccused away from what they don't want you to see, kinda like a magician, slight of hand and miss-direction! Fotunately for us, Ron Paul slipped through the cracks.

These people just won't take a hint.

Well, between the protests over SOPA, ACTA and this, maybe the third time is a charm and they actually get the message this time? If not, I "fear" we only have one thing left to resort to; Lady Guilloutine.

Good one. It's only a matter of time they will control the Internet fully. They will find a way to sneak it in when no one is looking. The b*$t*#&$.

Excellent point, Blackmarketeer, neither the Democrats or Republicans can be trusted -- they work for the same puppetmasters behind the curtain.

I don't trust Ron Paul either. Not that it makes any difference -- Ron Paul is not going to be nominated.

TPTB do not care what we think, David_Reale. They will find a way to get what they want.

OK, everyone, stay on your toes. Keep an eye out for this bill to be presented. When it comes up, make sure to call/write/email your Senators and tell them you don't want them supporting it.

Maybe we should take a preemptive approach and demand this bill be made available to the public for scrutiny before it's voted on.
