You know what I notice after reading all these Facebook updates about the Super Bowl? How more people give more a $%*& about men in tights running each over for a piece of leather than care that our country burns to the ground. It's depressing I hate that no one gives a damn About America anymore, All they care about is Kobe Bryant or some guy in tights getting mauled in a stadium. I bet you $1000 if the government would take they're sports away we would have a huge revolution, but no it's all designed to keep people in a trance like mindless zombies. It's disgusting when we have a team called the patriots and every colts fan is calling Patriots p****s and yet your an American yourself DO YOU NOT KNOW WHAT YOUR SAYING?!

I really hope war comes to the U.S only then will people start giving a damn, people dieing seems to be the only way people start waking up in masses.

Rome is burning, but as long as the Colosseum has games, the people won't care.

I understand that the NFL is part of our "bread and circuses" but it is much less so than the p__ies and weaklings who embrace Social Security and Welfare!
I'm sure the OP, in his/her great wisdom would agree with me on this most obvious fact. I'm sure he/she is not just a self righteous ideological fool.
At least sports give local communities reason to be proud and maintain their own culture versus the tyrannical impulse to central control and socialist/corporatist treason.
I understand that communist traitors and those that despise everything about freedom and individuality might hate sporting events that celebrate team, community,and individual excellence, but hey, whatever, man.

I agree completely, OP. While I'm not American I understand exactly what you mean. Over here the media and Facebook are all full of pointless trivialities which mean nothing. It's also worth noting that the people who focus on the banalities that are always the most angry when the government's decisions affect them, and don't know why it's happened.

If people paid a bit more attention, maybe things would be different. Maybe people would be more willing to take a more active role in the way their countries are run.
