Alan Joyce has become the face of the Corporatist Oligarchy in Australia. The smug corporatist pigs are laughing at us all. Joyce revealed his contempt for the public with his audacious decision to ground the entire Qantas fleet with no warning. He was telling us that we are nothing. He left thousands of travellers stranded and caused choas. He caused damage to the Australian economy and held the country to ransom, threatening to keep the fleet grounded until the Australian Government stepped in to force arbitration.Qantas holds 65% of the market share of airlines in the domestic market. He knows the the government works for him and his corporatist friends. Alan Joyce got his way as the Prime Minister bowed to the corporatists and forced arbitration to resolve the dispute with the Unions.

Joyce is back in the news. This is some coporatist propaganda from'The Wall Street Journal' telling us that Qantas is crying poor. Boo hoo.
online.wsj.com...

What they are actually worried about is this--

TextQANTAS chief executive Alan Joyce has warned the airline group may consider selling its low-cost carrier Jetstar if legislation to keep maintenance in Australia and proposed restrictions on using foreign cabin crew is successful.

......

TexttMr Joyce reminded senators that Qantas was a non-government business that answered to its shareholders

Senator Nick Xenophon is on our side. He is pushing for legislation to ensure that Qantas keeps the bulk of its staff in Australia.

The corporatist media across the globe is running pro Qantas propaganda right now

Notice the red eyes in the photo?
At the end of the day its a private corporation so its partly the publics fault for depending on them so much but I agree 100% with everything you said.
The only thing I find weird is why he had to hold the government to ransom as you put it, because they do own the government so why not just give them the order.. I think this was a clear statement to the people that we people and our government do not have a say in what happens.

Money will be the end of us.

Governments have every right to step in and ensure that corpoarations dont outsource its workforce.

Companies like General Electric,Apple and Wallmart should be forced to give back to the countries that they claim to be based in.

Well not really, remember a corporation is considered a person now. Even tho corporations have more rights then the average person.

I agree. Another thing we can do to ensure they do not have the ability to hold us to ransom is limit max market shares. No corporation should be allowed to monopolize by holding a 65% market share like qantas has.

I agree. Right now,the US Federal Government could preempt all 'state corporate law' under the courts current expansive interpretation of the Commerce Clause. You could get around the Tenth Amendment and get them all out of Delaware.Corporate Personhood mocks the Bill of Rights and could also be removed. The Founding Fathers would remove it.

Over the last few years, Qantas, the "Safest Airline in the World" has had a number of scary incidents. Not pointing any fingers (well, I guess I am) but the problems started when they started outsourcing non Australian mechanics to do its servicing at various overseas countries.

I sadly predict that its only a matter of time, which is approaching faster, until Qantas has a terrible accident costing real lives. All to save a few more dollars to line investors pockets.

And yet, they sleep.

I agree

And when it does happen the concern from Qantas will be for its shareholders. Not the victims. The corporatists are demonic. Profit is their god.

Too be fair (and I am not supporting outsourcing jobs)
It’s not because the non Australian mechanics are bad it’s because Qantas overworks them like dogs and if you’re getting paid scraps no one is going to put 100% effort in.
I agree Qantas has been very lucky and I would have expected something worse to have already happened.
Screw Qantas corporate pigs.

Well they do have that ability and they have already shown that.
Many industries are held by monopoly.. Just look at Coles and Woolworths, or news corp, or Monsanto.. there are plenty of others.

The constitution hasnt been followed by the us government for over a century now.
The entire structure and power of the government is actually illegal.
