you can eat your franken food by yourself, no interest in monsato....BUT WAIT - there is still bayer GMO and many others, so in the end i think it was just to get rid of monsanto NOT GMOs in general

This news is based on an old article from 2003, according to a post in the UBC Botanical Garden Forums and NaturalNews.

There is some confusion over dates.

The Guardian had this news dated 2003, now it's been badged as "updated" with today's date.

Is this news or not?

Great job Europe. Now let's get the same response in the states

It's a small start, although the damage has already been done. Maybe they figure it's set in stone and the "program" doesn't need their oversight anymore?

Anyone notice in the OP's linked article, they say: "It said it intended to move its crop protection and oilseed rape business to a new base in Cambridge."

Not sure if that was intended by the author as a stab, or just a typo... either way, it's funny.

Sounds like good news but when a ruthless corporation like Monsanto suddenly backs down so easily, you have to wonder whether or not they might ber regrouping to formulate a different approach. I just can't see them simply writing off such a large market. I suspect we have not heard the last of them.

Don't cheer just yet. Monsato may, and I stress "may" take a black eye on this, but ADM continues to spread its evil grip across Europe. It doesn't make sense to me that any company can take a hit like ADM and continue to "acquire" ports all across Europe.

When the majority of the worlds agricultural business is in the hands of three companies, mankind has some serious trouble ahead. Patty Weortz is a whore of the G20. They will profit off the demize of billions of people.

Monsanto had to take some defeats in Europe in the past but this one is old news.

I think the latest loss was when Monsanto tried to cultivate GMO-crops on 40.000 hectares of agricultural land in Germany back in 2009. I guess that's what Silcone Synapse was talking about.
Monsanto had to reduce their farming area to 4000 hectares first (due to strong restistance) and were finally completely banned by our agriculture minister.

Recently Monsanto tries to claim patents for organic genetic material which will most likely also be banned here.

Isn't this the same article that came out in 2003 but was recently put up as though it happened this year?

If you go to naturalnews.com it is one of their articles and they stated they had to retract the information as it actually happened years ago.

My thoughts exactly, however a small victory if true.

It's entirely possible that they may change names to fool us, people definitely need to keep pressuring regardless.

Edit: Apparently old news? meh.

Don't break out the champagne yet. In the meantime, DOW & MONSANTO have teamed up to introduce
an even more lethal toxin into the US food supply.

I am posting in this forum, because most of the people are intelligent enough to do something, and this is
one of the few opportunities we have to influence the decision!
