Winona student, 9, suspended after Michael Jackon-style groin grab in "Billie Jean" performance

A Catholic elementary school in Winona indefinitely suspended a 9-year-old student for mimicking Michael Jackson's famous groin grab during a fundraiser.

Mindy Boberg said the principal at St. Stanislaus' Elementary school, Pat Bowlin, approached her and her son, Lenny, during the Thursday night event.

Not that I am a fan of Michael but this is just insane. I have seen so many stories like this coming out that I really don’t know what is happening to the world. I think the destruction of our society starts small with things like this and happens quicker and quicker if we don’t stand up and stop it

This is a catholic school, so they would probably support a paedophile teacher/priest but indefinitely suspend a kid for acting like a man society made a hero out of.

Remember the only people who can stop this crap happening is the public. We dont need our kids growing up thinking they are evil or whatever for doing perfectly normal things.

The kid was suspended for doing a performance that imitated a man who was probably his idol.

Have a look at the Facebook page and see how many people support him.

I don't know, I question the school though. Was there a rehearsal, didn't the school vet these acts? If they knew he was doing a Micheal Jackson dance ahead of time, they should have known that this might happen. Was the boy warned ahead of time not to crotch grab, a typical MJ move?

This child should have been told not to dance like this as it is wrong for a child of that age to dance in this manner.

The childs teacher should be suspended and the parents of the child should be slapped around the head and told to wake up to themselves.

The student was suspended for "gross misconduct" to which the performance doesn't even fit in their definition.

"The WACS student/parent handbook states that a school principal may immediately suspend a student for gross misconduct. It defines gross misconduct as an action that “creates a substantial and unjustifiable risk of harm to another person or serious damage to the property of the school or another person, or conduct which substantially impairs the discipline and order of the school environment.”

It is odd that this child has performed the same routine for the previous two years w/o complaint. And that it was approved during rehearsal.
