Tonight I’m going to kill myself. I’ve thought long and hard if I could really do it and there is only one answer: I have to.
Diary entry 1055:
Terra Kappa
After completing over one thousand missions I’m faced with the deplorable task of killing myself.
Suicide… so-to-speak.
Looking through a mirror with a gun to my head and pulling the trigger. One might think it would be easy after all the horrors I have seen but at the
end of the day, it’s me; my blood, my DNA, my heart that is going to stop beating.
Diary entry 1032:
Terra Nova
Hitler is staying in a remote location in the Alps called the Berghof. He has done pretty well for himself since he immigrated from Terra Theta. The
man has created a following beyond comparison. All for the blatant destruction of an alien world which has no ties to the man.
He set his sights on the Jewish peoples and any country that has opposed him. It seems even with the technical knowledge he brought from
Terra Theta, he has not had time to replicate nuclear technology to the point of creating a bomb. Our sources said there was a problem with his
temporal convergence. His unit was destroyed during his appearance and subsequently the databases were wiped out.
The mission, as it stands, is to present our stolen Theta Identification to Hitler, provide him new materials for his end goal of
nuclear warfare which will be sabotaged. Once the Third Reich begins work with the faulty bomb designs we will apprehend Hitler and return him to
Terra Kappa for prosecution. The most important part of this mission is to have it appear that Hitler committed suicide.
Diary entry: 0001
Tempa-Sec-Kappa = Training class.
The first thing they told us today was to keep a diary. Supposedly it helps you over the years keep track of who you are and what world you are from.
You got to be kidding me right? We all hear stories about the TSK officers when we are kids but you never really think it’s going to be you, do
you?
Diary entry 0006:
Tempa-Sec-Kappa = Training class.
Today we are learning about temporal convergence. The term they use for time travel. I should really know this stuff from advanced temporal studies
but I think I drank too much in University. Temporal convergence, yadda, yadda, yadda…
The transportation unit is charged with hyperactive particles, a mini-singularity is created in the reactor and then WHAM, you start
spinning through space-time. At this point you are technically everywhere at once in every time there is - all in the same place but in no place at
all.
Omnipotent, so-to-speak.
“Oh crap, I’m a piece of goo that is making up the multiverse.”
That’s the only thing I can think of when I try and picture this process in my head. But then there is temporal convergence. The
course is plotted before you leave. Even though you are technically non-existent, the transportation unit is calibrated to go somewhere - to meet its
end result. Eventually, (or not eventually) it reaches its temporal convergence and its spit out at the destination. The instructor tells us that they
believe some trips cause the transportation units to be held in limbo for thousands if not millions of years. The pilots however, only experience a
nanosecond of travel.
How comforting…
Diary entry 0034:
Tempa-Sec-Kappa = Mission briefings.
Today was a rundown of everything I learned in school. The multiverse: how there are thousands of Earths out there. How the multiverse is
interconnected like bubbles blown out of soap – touching each other. How if you create something in one universe, it takes away from another
universe – like glasses of water poured in and out of each other with a limited amount of water.
Terra Theta – It was the first Earth to go lightspeed. The first time travellers. Once they realised they couldn’t go back to their own timeline
(impossible) they started messing around with others. Their original intent was just to find a way to bring material possessions back to Theta, but
the reality of transporting large amounts within the transportation units was not feasible.
Something happened though. Terra Theta noticed that on certain worlds destruction brought growth to Terra Theta. The worlds are
interconnected. Some more than others. Some differently than others.
Their main target: Terra Nova. The young Earth. Only a few thousand years into its history on a parallel time screen.
The best part is our world; Terra Kappa is also tied to Terra Nova. If it suffers, we suffer. We are its protector.
Diary entry 1056:
Terra Nova.
The last time I was here I was punching a Terra Thetan in the face. I remember it being easy too, the stupid mustache he had was like a target for my
fist.
Today will be a little different. First off, the level of technological advancement Terra Nova has undergone is astounding. My superiors
will be happy to know our technological plants worked out well. Supposedly the locals think it has something to do with aliens though. Probably all
the better.
8:45PM Local time.
A few days ago my CO came to me with a grim look on his face. “There is a Terra Thetan who needs to be assassinated. He came up under your
jurisdiction.”
“What’s the problem?” I said. It’s not like this was my first mission.
“It’s you.” He replied.
So that’s what I am stuck with. There are plenty of worlds in the multiverse, plenty of people. But the TSK found a target who is trying to destroy
Terra Nova and it turns out we are an exact genetic match. He’s me. But he’s a Thetan.
I never understood why Terra Nova is tied to both Terra Kappa and Terra Theta, but it is. Maybe the Thetans are more like us than we like to admit?
In either case, it doesn’t matter. Tonight, I’m going to kill myself. And Terra Nova will be safe once again.
