WIth America still in deep recession and Japan offering big cash bonuses, it look likely that Sarkozy's plan that had to Obama accepte, to allow Hawaii the vote on whether to leave the USA and join Japan will result in the States shrinking by one state.

...So its GOODBYE HAWAII!

...If Americans find this future news distasteful, why on earth would they not expect the suggestion that the Falklands should hold a vote on leaving the UK and joining Argentina be equally as insulting, particularly as the entire population of the Falkland Islands are British whilst most of Hawaii is of native stock.

I think Hawaii would vote to stay in the USA, should the vote be real. However, I doubt the referendum will happen. Therefore Hawaii should go to Japan, since the USA is obviously preventing the people of Hawaii from having a fair vote on joining Japan or joining Canada.

My whole point is how you, an America, would feel if France was able o force America, weakened by staggering defence cuts, internal strife and economic collapse to hold a referendum in which Hawaii citizens were pressured and bribed into ceding from the US so they could be sold off to Japan.

Why are the birts so butthurt about this island? I thought they would be used to their empire dwindling by now. I could understand if it was an island like hawaii with nice tropcial weather and great beaches but.. its not even close is it?

As an american I'd be ok with Hawaii joining japan. It would just suck to get a passport to visit there.

...So all the men and women who died at Pearl Harbour for your country are nothing to you? They should have just given up.

Ok first off the two aren't really the same thing. The Falklands have been the subject of international dispute for only a couple hundred years now. With both sides of it both having fairly good and strong claims. Any reasonable person would have to at least give the island residents the right to determine for themselves which if any nation they wish to belong to.

I don't believe a facepalm image of such enormousness exists for the crap in the OP.

Is there any debate at all as the the ownership of the Hawaiian islands?

Yes the Falklands are perhaps a bit of a disputed area but not so much after the arse kicking back in 1982 but let's face it, they are British and long will they remain ours, nothing to do with any situation in Hawaii.

Oh and to the person earlier who questioned the significance of the tiny Falklands, large oil fields have conveniently been found in the seas around them, to which the British govt. lay claim... Hence recent political hostilities.

Overall, after reading the post title i was intrigued. After reading a poorly structured post i dismiss it entirely!
