Nostradamus and Hurricane Ivan

I might just be grasping at straws but earlier today I saw a thread referring to New Orleans turning into a soup bowl soon after I had been reading Nostradamus quatrains. Personally I am very sceptical about his "predictions" and I know people draw out the book of centuries every time there is a major event in the world and find some obscure synergy with the event and his quatrain. I would however like ATS members to look at these centuries and to comment. I haven't seen any other site on the WWW discussing this so it might be interesting getting a totally fresh perspective on Nostradamus predictions of an unfolding event.

As Nostradamus was French I think the new city may refer to a new city of one that he would have recognised like Orleans.

The plunging in a tub sounds like the soupbowl analogy, but I have no idea of the hollow mountains. The drink water to sulphur is quite clear from this article.
"Experts said Ivan could be worse, sending water pouring over levees, flooding to the rooftops and turning streets into a toxic brew of raw sewage, gas and chemicals from nearby refineries."

This is definitely a change in weather patterns and I am wondering if Tours, Orleans, Blois, Angers, Reims and nantes may be streets in New Orleans or the neighborhood.

Tents being pitched sounds like aid to the people, and as there are many French Creole , Nostradamus may have seen this as taking place in Orleans and not the States, therefore aid workers would be speaking english, which is a foreign tongue for that area.

The huge waves would be explained by the hurricane and the shaking of land possibly by the breaking of the leeves?

All of this is conjecture. Please help with input or debunk my analysis.

The problem with most of Nostradamus' writings, is that they can be interpreted in so many ways to fit so many situations.....people can read into them pretty much what they want.

Most folks believe Nostrodamus' 'New City' is New York.

Garden of the New City is NJ. (the garden state).
Siezed = earthquake or nuclear shake
Tub = ocean
Sulfer water = polluted water

D1k: Actually your limited attention span is showing. If you tried reading beyond the first few lines you would have read a superficial analysis of two of the "pertinent" quatrains. I would however appreciate it if the mods would ask you to refrain from your harassment.

LadyV: You are correct in stating that Nostradamus was very vague in his "predictions", that is why I am always reluctant to quote any of his writings. However he has been a bit more spot on than Sollogor SBP, and I found some of the aspects kind of appropriate and thought it would make for interesting discussion. But you are right in the final analysis.

I tend to agree with Lady V. It seems to me that everytime a mouse cuts the cheese somone can attribute it to a prophecy of Nostrodamus. Hasn't most of his predictions been discounted as way off base?

I live about 40 miles outside of New Orleans and the "soupbowl" encompasses more than just the French Quarter, which I think most people consider to be New Orleans. I find it interesting that you bring up the soupbowl possibility and I find it interesting that other articles spoke of 40 feet of water in the city. (This was not on any of the local news.) The worst case scenario is for a storm to hit at the mouth of the Mississippi and the eye to go up the river. This would cause 40 feet of water but the local meterologists were confident that the storm would turn. "The Big One" that would cause this damage has been predicted since before I was born! There was more fear about Andrew causing this kind of damage than Ivan.

Don't know about the garden, exactly, but new city could be New Orleans, and hollow mountains are skyscrapers, or maybe huge ships, and what happened next is history...
