I find it sad. The US with all out military might and money do so little to help the poor who truly need the help. India, an economy 1/15 the size of ours is going to try and feed most of its poor population. Now, the plan in India could be just election pandering, but it shows some nations still dream big. I would like to hear your thoughts on this topic..

If the people of India received as much in food stamps as the people in America, there would no longer be any skinny Indians.

Besides, Indians come over here to buy up the convenient stores to accept the food stamps as payment from Americans.

I hear that in many convenient stores, on the sly, you can use food stamps to purchase lottery tickets.

This would be because most of the "Poor" are there by choice, living on and leaching from the backs of hard working taxpayers.

On the other hand, if we werent giving away BILLIONS to other countries, and spending our money on our military defending other countries, we would have more money than we would know what to do with.

just my opinion.

Geez, you sound like Scrooge McDuck there.

It isn't all as simple as you think it is. There are people who work who are STILL poor. Did you grow up with a silver spoon in your mouth?

While this is a great theory, isn't most of India's grain crops GMO?
Maybe it's being on the site too much, but wouldn't this lead to population control?

The US already does the same, and more. What do you think welfare and foodstamps are for?

Anyway, access to basic needs such as food is a human right. Kudos to India!

Being poor has largely become a racket.

Ever notice the poor purchasing flat screen televisions on sale at Walmart?

Yes, we all have.

A rather insulting opinion... and quite ignorant at that.

Nobody is poor because they choose to be. you cannot choose how you are brought up or what part of the world you are born into. Just because some people (i'm going to guess as yourself) are born into a world of gold toilet seats, and silver bogbrushes while typically throwing uneaten meals in the trash, doesn't mean everyone else starts out that way.

Poverty exists, because of the rich and the greedy. If history proves me right your statement is actually quite contradictory, as it is infact the richest in society are the ones who leech off tax payers money, one example being off-shore bank accounts or other methods of evading tax which in turn results in more people in poverty ending up paying more tax than they should.

Essentially poverty arises due to neglect and cheating of the financial system by others. It's the same all over the world where a capitalist system exists. Abuse of the system for personal gains makes others suffer.

Honestly how can you say a 5 year old child chose to live in poverty? as an example.

In relation to the OP's post, think of all the meals that could be bought when the filthy rich actually pay their income tax "as they should". I don't see how this would effect anything, as the people evading tax payments for personal gain are the ones who dispose of and waste perfectly fine food as it is.

You would think that India and China are way ahead of the bell curve on population control methods?

If you are 'poor' and know how to work the system, you can live pretty darn good.

I don't mean birth control per se, I mean causing their deaths by all the bad things GM food can do to you.
Heck, they have already had farmers killing themselves due to the GM crops contaminating other crops.

There are going to be many ways to cause deaths in the coming Depopulation Wars.

Have no fear of that abilities.

The US uses food stamps, etc., to feed the hungry poor. Many people deride this practice and claim those people are abusing the system. Actually, the US has sent so many jobs overseas that it SHOULD be subsidizing those who cannot work and even those who do not WISH to work. The only injustice done currently is that those who work even for minimum wage should be enjoying a higher standard of living than those who make it their vocation to live off the dole. That would seem only fair.

The US is a wealthy nation though its taxpayers are unjustly burdened by financing our overseas adventures, war, police actions, and such. Otherwise we should be feeding and housing those who do not desire to work, though at a lower standard than those who slave away working at low pay; and anyone who does work should be in some sort of privileged class.

We pay farmers to NOT grow certain crops. We ship jobs overseas. So why not have a class of cared-for non-workers?

ETA: Prediction: Someday it will become a privilege to be able to work.

Does this mean that India's poor will be smuggled into America, given voter registration cards?

Most poor people have chosen their life. Yes it's true you need to get out more often. i make a lot of money because they would rather have a nice car than food because they can go to the shelter and eat for free 7 days a week 3 meals a day. I buy their remaining food cards for cash

You ever eat a "meal" at a shelter?

They are not living large.

Yeah, it is called food stamps and people sell them for drugs so they can complain about how bad it is. You realize the government pays people to be poor through welfare right?

We're constantly reminded that there are seven billion plus people on the planet...

...that millions of them are starving to death every day.

...millions more are dying of some yet unnamed disease that can quickly turn pandemic.

...uncounted more are dying in bloody civil wars.

And we're saying, "Dang, I sure am lucky not to be one of them. And I know nobody can feed them all. I also know that nobody can cure all their diseases. Nobody can really stop all the civil wars."

You know what else we're saying, "We need to take care of our families and ourselves, first."
