The President of the World... I think EVERY ATS member should see this.

So I was watching a video on youtube, and in the column to the right where the promoted video goes was this...

This is the best thing that I have seen come out of the internet in a long time. Pretty much any person can make a topic or suggestion and the rest of the world sees it. You then vote on whether you think its a good idea or a bad one. There's places to leave your own comments so people can get your views and opinions. The most "approved" ideas get put back out in video's, and (unlike facebook) your information will not be sold to a third party. In the video the guy says "the more that people unite in one place, the more powerful their voices become.". I think that if the people of the world get behind this then we could actually start pushing the ball in the right direction.

SN- when I was watching this I couldn't help but feel a little freaked out about the video. The fact is that the world is a little uneasy at the moment. Everyone is a little on edge, between 2012, the #@%$ economy, the occupy movement, all this war over nothing, bank bailouts...(the list goes on and on), the world just isn't as "calm" as it used to be. Now I can't help but get the feeling that this is a way to make the people believe they have a voice in their governments and make them think that a world president would be a good idea. That he would act like that. Allow you to make the decisions, and we all know that wouldn't happen. That being said i think its a good way for the world to find a voice, but as always awareness is key. I for one will be looking for more signs as to whether or not tptb are going to try and pull a fast one.

But America would obviously control "the President of the world" , and since 80% of the world`s problems have been caused by America in the last decade alone , i dont think it would be a good idea.

In a sense this is true. Democracy in the traditional sense is bad, as it only allows people to choose between ideas that are not theirs. Essentially you pick between two pre-determined agenda's that you had no say in making. You vote for someone to pick for you. Choosing between a giant douche and a turd sandwich. In this style of democracy you pick what certian ideas you want to promote. If you can make a valid enough point then you should never be on the "wrong side" of the vote.

Also that doesn't mean you can't use something like this to your advantage. If you think it's a war machine... use it like one.

I think the masses will go along with this ..sounds like a good idea .BUT ...Oh and China or India could out vote the U.S. any day ..And what about the issue that we find in the little dibold machines ....Not for me,but you are free to fall in line ....peace

Where is the newness in this concept?

I thought it was already in action.

Our government is supposed to be for the people, by the people.

Don't our politicians listen to what we say and vote according to the way that we have determined we want them to vote.

Oh, I forgot. They give a damn about what we say and even our voting systems has become a farce.

So why should we believe this will be any more successful on a global scale?

We can't make it work in one town. How the heck are we going to make it work on a global scale?

They really do believe we are that stupid.

Do not fall for this, we already have the power of social networking and it is obviously working hence all the bills to censor the internet. This in my opinion just puts public voice into a more manageable state which could easily be fixed, censored and even used as a way to spread propaganda.

Anon is part of their plan , so is OCCUPY.

Soon , the Euro will fail , the "world reserve currency" ( $ ) will be introduced as Europe`s main currency , America`s already telling dozy zarkozy and merkel the turtle , what laws and regulations they can and can-not introduce.

Once America has Europe on a financial leash they will move towards declaring full scale war with Russia and China from all angles, and the world will be under American dictatorship by 2020...... oh snap, that`s already happened

Ron Paul is the only one who can prevent global domination ...... failing that , there`s always that little gang of islands who seem to have a knack for defeating pure evil wherever it stands.

It's a message in the right direction, S&F.

I made a thread on this sort of ' technological direct democracy' before, with the technology available to us it's not a stretch that something like that could be achieved. Changing attitudes, beliefs and dependencies, now that's the hard part. But, you can never have too many well presented video's like this around which hint at an alternative, so good job.

If you think falling in line means allowing your voices and opinions to be heard then i think you should look up the definition of conformity. You'd realize that sitting there docile and quietly disagreeing doesn't change the world. This has the potential to be something. It isn't some government controlled website. It's a place for ideas to spout and grow, and i firmly believe that an idea is one of the most powerful weapons that we possess. Especially with the internet, the spread of certain idealisms could fix the world.

Deny ignorance. Just because something can be used for bad doesn't mean that it can't be used for good. Remember that every blade no matter how sharp has two sides.

a lot of you guys are slamming this site, but I'm giving it a chance. I like the idea of free flowing ideas, lets just hope it's moderated well. They could take a lesson from ATS. If anything saves the human race it's going to be a global connectedness and the internet is the best vehicle for that. Once we get over the superficial uses of the net I think people will start to wake up and use it in new movements. It's already in full swing in some places in the world. There seems now to be a push to unite citizens of all countries.

the site is only in its very beginning stages, but I like the concept so far.

II have a voice and its called a opinion ...I express that quite frequently ..I think there are many good ideas to address the many problem in many places of the world that I would have no opinion to offer ..Who am I to say to you what is best for you and your culture ..Even the Colonialists had good Ideas for the Natives in their own mind but failed miserably to consider the cultures of the tribes they were dealing with ..look at how that turned out ..poisoned rivers,Buffalo gone, stuck on a reserve on a piece of land stolen from them in the first place ...Yea we need a concisest all right ...If this group wanted to know what we think all they have to do is Google it ...there is the conses .no need to vote, If they want to know what we think they can find it ...its every where on the net ...the Govt's know what we think ...and they use that knowledge to do what ? I will share my opinion and not hide it but I wont be part of the crowd that just might decide to bring out the gallows to fix the problem .One group of ideals wont work for the whole .Even Nature tells us that .do all the birds fly south? do all fish migrate? Are all peoples nomadic? one mind one world govt. is all I can see coming out of this. Like I said ,I think the masses will go for it....peace

The concept is ideal, but with this kind of thing you're only as influential as the number of email addresses you can register with. Until there is one person one vote it can't be used fairly. Having said that the current system doesn't exactly excel at that.

Nice idea on paper and the video was excellently worded and spoken!
However, I'm gonna just live on my property and do my thing.
I harm nobody, in fact I actually help out.
Either way, leave me alone and I will do the same.
I do not want nor need a president of the world.
Why pay someone to make decisions for me when I have been doing that just fine all along?
Maybe the president of the world could go get his own piece of land and make his own decisions for himself.

The American forfathers argued against democracy as much if not more than communism and socialism.
It's simple really, to show how democracy fails us. It goes to the heart of what would happen to a self serving people (all of us) when given power.

What happens to a tax producing minority when a tax consuming majority figures out they can vote entitlements to themselves?
Democracy simply cannot and will not ever work. Especially in a morally bankrupt society as we find ourselves in now.

Who gets to choose? Those that can afford access?

Has any one done the math? Anglos, Christians, English as a primary language folks are well out numbered.

Now how many are willing to accept the laws, cultures and religions if out numbered and out voted.
