Exactly why I don't buy NIKE or any other name brands. It seems the more they cost in the US the more greedy the company. No one can honestly say that there are no alternatives. They are just too self centered and lazy to care. Karma its alive and well and coming home to roost. ENJOY!

There are plenty of alternatives to Nike... Saucony, Asics, Under Armor, Brooks, New Balance, Salomon..... obviously I am being sarcastic here.

I have fallen victim to the fashion industry indeed. While I have the best intentions to look for fair trade, when you work in the city, in a professional capacity, you need to be on your A-game and as bad as that sounds part of that is professional appearance. Unfortunately, the finer professional clothing and accessories, especially for women have everything to do with corporate greed! So how do I get around that? Any suggestions would be great.

In terms of the Nike thing... as a professional athlete and MMA fighter I have to say that the quality of the athletic shoe makes ALL the difference. I certainly am not going to run sprint intervals or perform box-jumps wearing a $10.00 pair of no-name sneakers. Believe me, I've gone that route and lost my toe nails as a result. I am not going to spar or step into any ring unless my gloves are hand-stitched from Thailand! I won't risk injury for the sake of feeling bad about sweat shop production.
