no its actually fact, i have logs to prove such a thing as i talk to these people regularly on skype and chat - and i dont post threads as much for the same reasons, but really it doesn't matter does it - the op felt a need to rant which is exactly her right to do so seeing as it is the rant forum, and somehow things took a down turn...over a rant . anyways lol threads to read

Right back at you.. what you state as your opinion could be considered mudslinging.. just like you accuse others of who are giving their opinion.

I joined this site in May.. the first two threads I started besides introduction got ridiculed and thrown mud at.. and I felt they were legitimate enough for a conspiracy forum...but because they deal with topics that had been discussed way back, and had mention of some of things, I was attacked for not contributing to a thread that 3 years old.. and so lengthy that no one would begin to read it from the start anyhow.

I guess I could start threads discussing what the real meaning of Christmas is, though I have no belief in Jesus, and mudsling my sister for most of the Op.. or I could start threads on fashion accessories because we all know how important buying a pair of 200.00 shoes is ..in the world right now...and then of course I could start a thread admonishing others for not contributing worthy material.. and get a ridiculous amount of flags for it.

When I see threads that do have a lot of work put into them, and great attention to detail put into them receive a third of the flags and stars this thread has gotten, that shows me the quality of SOME the members on here.

Frankly I don't give two hoots about stars and flags, I just want to speak my mind..so it matters nothing to me if no one stars me.

and... it matters nothing to me what your opinion of me is either.. I have the right to speak honestly about the hypocrisy I see..and my opinion on it.

i do agree with most of what you just said gabby, what i dont agree with is being called something im certainly not and never have been, people have certainly the right to express there opinions however civility and decorum is being lost - exactly what the op was saying, good threads are being lost to the silly all that is true. i just choose not to read the silly threads theres no point in wasting what little time i do have.

This thread initially took a down turn because of the right of members to speak their minds.. and I saw the whole thread as very hypocritical.. and quite frankly many threads in the rant section about that very topic...

It getting redundant to read. and the mods have stated to many who have started these threads that to combat the problem they need to contribute what they want to see.

Are you doing that by your posts ronishia ? ..Is your smug little attitude of laughing at the members bringing up the quality of this site? You agree with the Op.. yet both of you are doing the same thing she admonished in her Op.

We are NOT trying to bait you.. so get over it.. we are simply calling a spade a spade.

And talking of 'pride' and hypocrisy in what you post...you do realise that there are any number of posters on this forum who don't speak and write English as a first language, and yet, can spell, punctuate and construct sentences far, far better than you seem able. Are all those that you speak to who nolonger post similar to you? Because I do wonder if perhaps the case here is, like the OP, that they are so used to being the centre of attention and really don't like it when they can't cut it here, where tantrums and tears don't wash it.

I agree with you on most points.

One liners that contribute nothing are annoying. Totally agree. But sometimes, some one liners are straight to the point and sometimes, they're even better than full paragraphs that say nothing.

Some debunkers are just...not. They're just giving non factual opinions. And very often, on non factual threads.

Misleading titles...oh yes. I normally call the op on it. If the op is sincere, he edits it. If he's not and I feel he's just trolling, I alert.

Some members think that someone who alerts is a snitch. I've read that a few times. My answer: BS !!

That's a kindergarten reply.

Mods can't be all over the boards. And see every single reply. Too many, they just can't.

Pointless thread titles that are completely different to the subject matter.

A great deal of members not even trying to contribute to a very good site where the overall content make it what it is.

All you guys arguing over Mblah's posting history, arguing over who's right, arguing over who's a hypocrite and so on is, in my opinion, silly and rather juvenile. The real issue you guys should be discussing is the quality of the boards, as highlighted in the opening post, and ways to improve it. Not contributing to dragging it down with replying to each other desperately trying to prove you're the right one and the other person is a wrong hypocrite or whatever, It's a pointless and un-important issue in my opinion.

But anyway, for what it's worth, I'm just throwing that viewpoint out there. Hopefully someone will read it and realize what they really should be angry about..

I don't need to read a book when I look into a thread...and in my opinion .. if you can condense what is important and put it out there with all the most important points made.. you have succeeded. If the reader is interested in reading more.. thats what the links are for.

I am not angry at her... I tolerate her, like I do others on here.

i agree & everyone has the right to speak their minds but some people have forgot how to be civil to each other, which is quite frankly one of the points of the op or am i wrong.

im well aware of the many multicultural people we have on ats - i am friends with many of them - many i speak to actually post a vast range of topics not just 1 or 2 - as do 1, most of which i have spent a great deal of time researching and posting. I would leave the personal attacks out of it, i haven't attacked you personally so i would like the same back, you can criticize my grammar and puncuation all you wish - thats your right to have your opinion.

Yes, I see the same kind of message in a new thread every few weeks/months as well so It's not just you there. Is that necessarily a bad thing though? I don't think so. Sometimes thing's like this need to be repeated in my opinion. In fact I don't think I saw anyone say they disagree with what you just said there. What we do take issue with however is the 'pointless' one line threads that contribute absolutely nothing to the board, or those thread's with nothing but a link or a 2 hour video and a quick comment to say "Thoughts?", because they drag the quality of the site down. That's what is being discussed here, not all one line posts - but instead those comments from people that contribute nothing.

I know Mblah fairly well now, I consider her a good friend of mine in fact and I 100% agree with the point she's making here - the core point being a great deal of members just don't seem to care anymore. A vast majority, from what I've seen myself, are looking to post so they can get the most flags or stars instead of posting because they actually want to learn a thing or two and that's a great shame really because it shows.

I like this site a lot and I know Mblah does too, thus why she posted this thread in the first place and in the manner in which she did. For me this forum is a favorite and quite frankly the best of It's kind and It'll probably remain that way for a long time and It's for that reason I at least try to contribute whenever I can. But for that reason It can get frustrating to see a vast majority cancel you out and post nonsense thus dragging the site down at the same time. That's why this thread is here, to highlight that annoyance in an effort to help tackle it. And that's one of the main points I was making in my last post here - Tackling that problem is not something we should forget as a lot of people arguing in this thread have done thus far.

As I said in my first post in this thread: 'This is a great site as it stands right now and as they say - It's up to us, as a whole, to keep it that way.' That's why I replied to your post Gabby, It was nothing personal, I just had to point out It seems like some in this thread are contributing to the very thing we should be combating.

I understand very well what you mean..

I have posted things I regret ..but at the same time..I'm not starting threads admonishing others for doing it.

It did need to be said, but I would have taken it much more to heart had it been a mod who pointed it out with some class.. instead of another rant from Mblah... who seems to love to try and tell others what they are doing wrong, like she is the authority on good manners and good posts, which she is not.

we have all posted things we regret gabby - thats human nature for you right there,but making personal attacks on someone is not the way to go even if frustration levels are high - i have many many times sat here and literally /facepalmed at the things i read, and the stories regurgitated and yes i have ranted about it more than once - hopefully through all of this at least 1 person takes heed and at least changed a little on how they post things.
