I have been very skeptical about these sounds happening around the world, but this one I don't have any explanation for.

This video was brought to my attention by member aLLeKs, and they deserve all the credit, but I don't think they can post a thread yet due to being new here on ATS.

Anyhow the video has a fantastic progression, people making a home vid and animals start to freak out. The man of the house starts to blame the pipes in the wall, but then starts to investigate and it leads him outside.

It's in German, but the owners put English subtitles by request of people posting on his comment section.

If this is a hoax it's a damn good one.

What are your thoughts?

Well there are 2 answers for this that I see.

Either these too are good actors or this is legit.

Possibly the bird has a cue to start acting goofy and they are carrying a recording of the sound and they just turn it up when the get outside.

But IMO they are not acting, one clue of that to me was the poor videoing. If I was going to fake somthing I would atleast have the picture right side up.

Dunno....But I sure would like to get to the bottom of this.

It could be like they said some techno party some kind of concert or maybe not. It was a very addictive sound much like whales talking. Sound like some kind of music you would use to relax or meditate too.

Seems genuine to me. Especially from the sounds the dog was making. Mine makes the same sounds when he hears thunder so it sounded like it was worrying the dog. Not forgetting as soon as he opened the window the sound got louder at exactly the right time.

I've literally got no idea what it could be, but i'm sure there's a reasonable explanation.

LOL fake. Good to bring it to our attention though. They've clearly used the sound from one of the previous videos (Kiev incident I think). The Kiev* video had drilling (ie pnuematic drill) and the video creator said specifically there was works going on nearby which is why you could hear a "drilling" in front of the 'cloverfield' sound. You can hear the same drill in this video, ergo, fake. The "acting" wasn't even that great. So, it raised a smile - but it's just someone's video project.

In summary - its a fictional piece, using the audio from a previous video.

EDIT: Yeah, it's the audio from this video:

Again. . .WHY would someone keep filming for so long if the only reason was to get footage of their dog playing a game of ball? So they keep rolling while the guy looks at some pipes, and it turns out to be something outside?

It all seems very suspect to me. I'd have stopped filming about a minute in.

ETA: And why is it only in english subtitles? Viral marketing is always aimed at the english, isn't it?

Although I am persuaded enough to believe that this may be a viral video, I am holding out hope that it is not. I have been following this Sound thing as closely as one is able to on the web and it fascinates me. I am always hoping that some thing will take place like this, that everyone will experience, and it will change the way we see the world and ourselves a bit or maybe a lot.

That is a great video, if it is acting it is really good acting. I enjoyed every bit of it. The banter between the two is really funny. The one hang up for me is that it seems that with the heightened awareness of the Sound that there would be more recordings.

So thanks for putting it up. Let's see where it goes, I guess.

X.

What if the sounds have always been there, and it's the people's hearing that has changed?

how about this to explain the strange sound videos .....does anyone remember the movie "District 9".....it did end with open for a sequal that has yet to be released..... the sounds remind me of the part in the movie when the big momma ship started up for the first time..... maybe an advertising ploy for the new movie.... no truth in the seqaul just in my opinoin there should'a been a second film

Im not saying I think this as fact ,cause I am really not sure and really interested in this phenomanon

Subtitles, dogs, acting and phone on its side - they're all just distraction techniques to pull you away from the fact they've used audio from a "strange sound in the sky" clip that was published last year. Don't be fooled! That's exactly what the makers of this vid set out to do - fool you, and it looks like it worked

No one is getting fooled here, we are discussing the issue.

Thanks for your input

Hmmm... now this is interesting. Someone uploaded a video from a movie called Red State, and.. .well, you be the judge.

Also, some foul language and the sounds come just after the first gun shots..

Sorry about the embed, you'd think the guy would let it be embedded, but I guess he wants hits.
Still no denying the sound, imo.

Hmm I don't think they are acting considering their wording. Seems natural to me. Subtitles are correct too.
The "noise" sounds a bit like an industrial circular saw from a sawmill or something.
The guy in the video says he wanted to record the sound in higher quality... any chance to hear that version?

I didn't follow this "strange sound phenomenon" yet so I don't know... should be easy to debunk for an average sound engineer if fake, right?

Wow. If this is really some kind of prank or even advertising then someone deserves to be punched for it. Hard. Alot. Not funny!

Er yeah I did, in my first reply. It took a whole 1 minute to know exactly what was going on here. Put some headphones on, listen to this clip and then the Kiev video I linked, and you'll hear exactly the same "strange sound" audio complete with the same pneumatic drill. But thanks for your arsey reply.

Personally, I am still going with my original explanation. People are just having fun with it, trying to recreate the best "strange sound" video possible.

If you could hear this sound, this loud, many-many people would come forward, just just one couple with a Camera. It seems like only Youtube can hear it.
