There have been a few pleasant examples of tolerance in this thread, to those of you I thank you.

To those of you who would try and define the beliefs of others... Don't.

There have been a few who have claimed that those of the faith that I lay claim to are not Christians. I can do nothing to reason with you, for your minds are made up, all I can say is, I believe in Christ. It is my right, it is my creed, and it is my focus of life. To tell me otherwise is not your place. That is between me and the Lord, and I will stand before him in the last days and face my own account. You are not the judge appointed by the Holy One.

Worry not to prove wrongness in each other, instead work to build up that which is good. Good and Evil, light and dark, they are opposing and incapable of existing in the same place at the same time. If you love one another unconditionally, as instructed by Christ, then you build up the light in each other. If there is only one ultimate truth, to which we all strive, then inevitably, those who seek truth, must find themselves drawn towards the same point in the end. Seek to do good. Work with those who would work with you, and love those who still hate you. If we do these things then we will find all the follies of men fall away from our various churches and rejoice in joining together in one united body. So cease to find fault. Work to build up the kingdom. The light will expel it's own darkness. God does not need us to punish the wicked, he will do it his own way and his own time. And it will be far less heavy handed then us, with far more chances for repentance then we would offer.

AHAH!!! So, you ARE intrigued by The Bible, that makes me happy. But then again, I have always been a generally happy person.

Glad to hear you are Unaffiliated, As Yet! If you will. I have heard it said that Our Lord Jesus Christ, would rather have them not believe than Believe and be a hypocrite!. I hope you make "the Right' decision and do not wait tooo long? And by all means do not let others try to "spoil" it for you. Being a Christian is no less adventuresome, I assure you. A person could probably live a hundred lifetimes and still, there would be, SO very much left to Learn.

I also find the Existence of Giants to be quite fascinating as well. After all, it IS in The Bible.
Not to say that I would EVER want to meet an Èvil one! I am way too enthralled with the real hopes of meeting Heavenly Angels who are said to be VERY tall! Way, way Much cooler!

I'm not surprised that when Joseph Smith made up his religion he included angst against the Catholic church. His family was known for having these views.

Smith family members held divergent views about organized religion, but they believed in visions and prophecies and engaged in folk religious practices typical of the era. For instance, during his youth and early adulthood, Smith himself used a seer stone to search for buried treasure.
( practicing Divination which is against the Holy Bible)
en.wikipedia.org...

Smith and his family did not belong to any one religion. They went to tent type revivals by many evangelical fundamentalists of the time. Many of these people have varying views on Christianity just like the Assemblies of God, the Pentecostals Baptists, Lutheran, Episcopalian (and so on) do today. Many of these have well known beliefs against the Catholic church. In other words they were Christian Mutts. They believed a mixture of things about Christianity. It was accepted in his family not to adhere to one doctrine.

I believe this is the Big Problem with Joseph being a confused young man who created the Mormon Religion to try to give himself some type of stability. He could not find this in his world, so he created it.

~~Aww, that's too bad. The actions of a few have most definitely been known to discourage others, who then turn away from faith altogether eventually calling it freedom from faith. When in fact the embracing of Apostacy is just another form of bondage. I don't know too much about Baptist's as me loving Mum was a Roman Catholic...I still managed to find my way to Christianity. Anyways, Take Care, friend.

The Book of Mormon isn't any more the 'word of God' then the Qu'ran is or the Old Testament is. Sure, the writers probably got some of it right just by shear luck. But as far as any of it being trustworthy or 'holy'? Nope. Sorry.

Qur'an is uncorrupted till today and have mathematical wonders.Google it.

When I read the title, specifically "The Book of Mormon" I instantly thought of the Broadway show from the creators of South Park.

Anyways, interesting read. I'm not particularly involved with any religion, so I don't believe in a God or Satan. Just bad choices and bad people.
Interesting read nonetheless.

ETA: from a non-believers point of view, I don't believe the second group of passages specifies Satan, as you said. I believe it's only saying churches that take from the book of God (the bible) and they twist the passages of said book to fit their views as they see fit. Which is what they've been doing, in my opinion, since the beginning.

Your approach in this thread is something that Jesus wouldn't do. That's your first failure to be Christlike as "Christianity".

Second, one book isn't answer. The more good books you read, the better understand regarding to universe will increase.

Third, "Mormon" is a slang or labeling is another misinformation that you still using to this day. The correct label of this group is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints." That sound much better than "The Mormonism." Agree or disagree and why?

Fourth, bible in Latin mean "Volume of books." The bible has limited to 66 books allocated out of million books out there. There are many other books which are good, but banned by Catholic in past because it wasn't harmony with their "ideology" oh, I mean their creed(s). Many books has been lost and you have a book that designed and manipulated by Catholic. You are still using a tool by Catholic despite if you don't worship their religion. Therefore you are still worship Catholic's vision of religion. Ironic, Catholic mean universal and yet they limited themselves to 1 dimensional of universe in past history. People in past has taught themselves from Catholic that Earth is flat and center of universe because Bible say so, but our science has proof us otherwise. However, if they read book of Enoch which Catholic has banned that book. It did explain the universe that can give us idea the Earth isn't flat or center of universe. True God or extraterrestrial teach us to think, but many religions teach us not to think, but trust bible and walk blindly. Sorry, one book will not save you, but many books will save your sanity.

Fifth, it's OK to believe anything, but be dammed not to believe anything.

Nuff said.
