Honestly, I've never grown to be a Rand fan yet, and I might never be. Something about him stinks to me. But, I hate the TSA much more than I hate Rand.

That is a very principled stance; unfortunately, I do not think most in this conversation are as principled. Rather, the arguments are based on who Rand Paul is and what letter is beside his name. If it were a different senator or if Paul subscribed to a different party, we would find the arguments of many here switched.

Who here has the courage to admit their stance on this matter is about who Paul is and what party he is affiliated with? I doubt many will have the courage of their convictions to make such an admission.

The Senate Sergeant at Arms has the authority to punish TSA for impeding Official Duty of a Senator:

www.senate.gov...

"""""""The Sergeant at Arms is authorized to arrest and detain any person violating Senate rules, including the President of the United States"""""

Senator Paul could get President Obama arrested for his TSA folly.

Then, Kentucky should send the TSA a humongous bill for the money they cost the state in lost time.
Time is money right.

Edit:
The way I read the Sergeant at Arms description, it only applies to the capital building. I do not think his jurisdiction expands to an airport.

Personally I think it's all staged.

They are capitalizing on the underdog American ideology. Paul is just another Obama.

Frankly, what terrifies me about all this is that the TSA is becoming more and more like the The Sturmabteilung (SA) English: Storm Detachment; or English: Stormtroopers functioned as a paramilitary organization of the National Socialist German Workers' Party (or Nazi Party).

This definition was copied from the page on the SA in Wikipedia. Just seemed quicker and more accurate than trying to rewrite or start from Basics... Hope it's OK.

If this kind of behavior and sanctioned terrorism is allowed to continue, how long before we end up with a paramilitary critter that takes off like the SS, Schutzstaffel, or armed protective group for the Nazi party.

I understand there are people here who poo-poo this concept, but the lack of investigation, belief, and common sense allowed for a little shindig they were deeply involved with, WWII. It may not have happened that way at all, if people had paid attention.

I just rather be wrong and have you all laugh at me than be even right in a minor fashion and watch it develop again.

This is INDEED US Political Madness!

Rand Paul exposes many inconsistencies and holes in the TSA's reasoning to detain him. He even offered and offer(S) a solution so that things like this DO NOT happen to those who travel frequently, etc...

Hello great post i did not here this thanks for bringing this to my attention. Sadly This does not Surprise me Paul is for the people and Against this police state/TSA AKA wannabe Gestapo puppets who think they have the right to feel you up and judge if you are suspicious. We the people know whats good and are Waking up this just ads fuel to the fire
. I support Ran and Ron Paul and we the people will Prevail against this police state Tyranny. More and more Americans are Waking up to this Tyranny we face every day

The sad part is, many people cannot afford to MISS their flights and pay for another one so many just go through with the pat-down for convenience sake.

We're literally being conditioned to accept the police state for normalcy. Imagine the kids that grow up in this world thinking that you MUST be pat-down to fly on vacation.

You guys think its only random pat-downs? Wait for the next terror-alert and Americans will be begging to be pat-down all the time for a false sense of security.

This MADNESS must stop.....vote Ron Paul 2012. He won't save the world but he'll get us in a better direction.

They pulled down elderly women and children's underwear looking for terrorists, why is this a shocker? The TSA should be at the White House where the real terrorism is.

All I can say to this post is AMEN!

Obama doesn't run the TSA nor did he create it - that would be Bush, in 2002. I look at this event as karma - a Republican harassed by an agency created by Republicans.

This wouldn't be the first time a senator was stopped by the TSA, Ted Kennedy was too, back in 2004 when his name kept appearing on the secret 'no-fly' list, also instigated by Bush.

everthing that I have read concerning this is that the scanning machine showed a concern on his left leg (not sure) and they TSA wanted to do a pat down in which the good senator did not want to do. what if those scanners are designed to give falls reading after so many people so that the TSA could pat people down (harassment)

the Trouble is that the senator might have thought that congress was waved from such things..I mean so many other laws they have written in the last decade does not apply to them.

why not get rid if this crap in the first place. adapt a system that does not make all Americans suspected trerrorist and try to use common sense. just like the violation of the forth admendment and DUI check points..detaining all people who happen to drive down the road because they might be drunk.

I consider the TSA searches to be just as bad...it violates your rights, next there will TSA is all bus stations and train stations...soon you will see TSA at the borders on each state..."papers please" you are not welcome to move about the Country........

I love your avatar

I was watching Rand on Fox and the Fox reporter actually agreed with Rand and was glad to see this happen to him because she says he is the one who is in the position to change this. I deplore Fox but every now and then they make me

The Transportation Conspiracy Agency, the TSA, is a fascist-communist conspiracy to destroy our Freedoms.
If I want to open my coke bottle with a box cutter on a flight to Chicago that's my own goddamned business. And yes stewardess, that is my gold plated AK-47 with the extra ammo. It fit's nicely in the overhead compartment so there shouldn't be a problem.

We need to kill the fascist-communist agencies before it is too late!

When a Senator is treated like this... I can only shake my head and wonder what's next.
Surely anyone with half a brain in the TSA would realise that maybe.. just maybe, this elected offcial is not a threat.

I laughed so hard at all the comments. It is unbelievable that your government is so square and blind as to play straight into the hands of the same people they say they want to combat. Terrorists aim was NEVER to destroy the USA but to TERRORIZE it and in so doing, make the USA destroy itself from within. It is clear as water now, that they accomplished their task of terrorizing the USA. Every single day someone is detained without reason, or screened at airports, or that some kind of previous liberty is now closed, you give power to the TERRORISTS. I can visualize some dude in Pakistan with a HUGE grin on his face reading all this comments and all the news coming out of that USA. How can the USA impose or motivate any other country for LIBERTY since there is no such thing in the USA?
So sorry for you guys... i pity you.

I find nothing interesting about a Senator being detained. He is not any better than anyone else and is subject to the same laws. Even if they are rogue laws as we all mostly agree. Everyone should be subject to these checks. Not just some. Especially if our government officials allowed this crap law to happen, I want them to get the full treatment as well. They are not entitled to special treatment. If it's good enough for us then it's good enough for them. I recall Congress having a fit about being checked as well and they should be allowed to pass through. I call that a complete failure on government.

I say line them all up and make them recite there oaths on the spot and everyone of them that fail lose there official position automatically.
They can take the jobs that illegal immigrants have.

He poses the exact same threat we all do. I hope they do a cavity search. Nothing like fuel to the fire.
