The room is barely wider than the thin, dirty mattress that covers the floor. Behind a low concrete wall is a squat toilet, the stench from which has no escape in the windowless room. The rough concrete walls deter idle leaning; the constant overhead light inhibits sleep. The delivery of food through a low slit in the door is the only way of marking time, dividing day from night.

This is Cell 36, deep within Al Jalame prison in northern Israel. It is one of a handful of cells where Palestinian children are locked in solitary confinement for days or even weeks.

Well, the US has Abu Garib and Good 'ole Gitmo...and Israel has Al Jalame.
While the west constantly condems every other country that violates human right's (like Iran) they seem to keep pretty quiet about Israel.

The treatment of these kids is a clear breach of the fourth Geneva convention, yet we have yet to hear the UK or the US condemm this behaviour.

Yet again they play the "one rule for us and another for them" card, which is an increasingly common tactic for Isreal lately.
The abuse of human rights by Israel is clearly getting out of hand and has been for some time now, yet they always seem to be able to justify their actions, and nobody asks twice.

Did you watch the video??this is horse crap! Those are little rich boys who cant take a moment of discomfort, Those Interrogators seemd nice. Considering police in the US will beat or even kill you for a small infraction or even disagreeing with them. These guys are lying you can tell by their actions when they have to look up and in a different direction before they answer a question. These kids are being treated this way for throwing stones. And Israel claims to be a democracy.

islamic law for children is pretty tough. i'm assuming the kids there would not be particularly impressed if you gave them american style rights and protections as they are accustomed to strict justice/punishment. not that i agree with their treatment, just consider that part of the world is not people friendly for any body, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion. i'd make allowances for ashkenazi jews but they are also targets, kids or not, so i don't think there's a moral high ground in this situation. the only thing to do, is to butt out as ron paul has suggested, and let these two groups of the same family tree, work out their problems. the family feud needs to
cease and desist so it doesn't drag the entire planet into oblivion.

i'm always shocked when people freak out about stuff like this but don't have the same reaction to bombs doing the same thing on a much worse scale. innocent civilians, women, children men old people infants handicapped, are killed in wars and bombings that all sides have participated in. and then they go all wacky in the brain pan about something like this, which is obviously wrong, but um, gee, how about we all figure out the part where it's even worse to just blow people up.

Well, yes i'd like to do something about it....as the rest of the world have to do it as the USA would'nt lift a finger against Israel...A small country that has oil yes, but Israel no..

There are young child criminals in prisons all over the world in almost all countries yet no one squeaks. And before you say anything else, some of these kids are still waiting trial too!

i'm not talking about israel, specifically, but rather, the entire middle east. western values don't apply there. that we are in there trying to pronounce good or bad on these people, when our own war machines blow up entire families and while retaliation attacks between palestine and israel happen on a regular basis, is ludicrous. it is BAD what they are doing to those kids. but people in the middle east nations often don't have the same emphasis on the sanctity of life and when they do, it's very specific. like, it's okay to kill in the name of al'lah but it's not okay to kill in the name of jesus. or it's okay to kill in revenge but it's not okay to kill in revenge if you're a muslim jew christian atheist buddhist hindu etc. in other words, it's a human problem. and westerners cannot fix the human condition.

we can't police them into not behaving territorially when our leaders do the same thing. we can't police them into being concerned that their women might be suffering inside black abayas on the back of pick up trucks in 110 degree heat.
